Actually, the entire world has been watching what every other country has been doing to see what works. Some small countries like South Korea, New Zealand, Iceland and even Israel (at least in the beginning) received a lot of attention because it seemed that they were winning the battle.
It is true that this realization as impacted by own thinking. But it's important to realize that we can't go back to the way life was before COVID-19. If we operated without any restrictions, and allowed the disease to spread unchecked, millions more would die.
At first I wondered what the headline had to actually do with the article, because though I enjoyed the article, it wasn't until nearly the end that the question of masks came up but I have to thoroughly disagree. Mark, you are clearly a stock market expert. But are you also a medical expert or epidemiologist? If not, what gives you the right to say masks don't work?
Tech is definitely overvalued with some sky-high valuations. A great example is #WeWork which is a real-estate company, but called themselves a tech company to get a higher valuation. $WE
Mish, I love your articles and greatly respect your opinions. You are completely right on point #1. But there's nothing wrong with taking this opportunity to "find something new." I know many people who often had wanted to learn new skills - programming skills, graphic design, a new language, trying to be published, learning to play a musical instrument, mastering a new piece of software etc. but never had the time to do so.
Of course not all of these would lead to paycheck down the line, but with so many being stuck at home, unable to work, but financially secure due to unemployment, it is a great time to learn new schools, many of which can be learned online.
Unfortunately, saying "fake news" for every article that disagrees with you is simply a copout and right out of Trump's playbook. It doesn't lead to intellectual debate or the arguing of merits, it just shuts the conversation down. It's the go to response when a person does not have a valid, facts based response.
