I recommend knowing how a business is doing, how much profit, market share, and  if they have just made some fantastic advance, as motivation to buy, sell,or pass. Knowledge beats emotions the vast majority of times.

Why The Hertz Stock "Re-IPO" Is A Bad Deal
3 years ago

Of course things may not go as unhappily as the original author feels that they will. Strange thing do happen these days. But still, I offer tha same advice,  "Do not invest more than you will be willing  to lose." Some non-risk- adverse folks have made lots of money on risks that I would not take. They alreadyhave lots more money than I do.  In a free country, to each their own.

Why The Hertz Stock "Re-IPO" Is A Bad Deal

Certainly there is a chance for some to "buy the dip" and then profit by selling before the crash. Waiting for the peak will be the fatal flaw that hurts many. The only ones to profit will be those wh take the money and run just after the demand jumps, and well before it peaks. That will not be the majority of investers.

It is not reasonable that the demand for luxury rental vehicles will be huge, or even large, but it IS very reasonable to think that Tesla shares will jump with the profits from that additional 100,000 car sales. So the announcement certainly benefits Tesla.

The result is that what I smell is an elaborate Pump and Dump action by a few who have done it before. Is this legal? Quite possibly. Is it decent? No way. The author points out the risks in a rather polite manner indeed. My caution is a bit less polite, but quite similar. Do not invest more than you will be willing  to lose.

Investment Outlook In The Current Energy Transition
3 years ago

Certainly the whole energy structure is changing, and just as certainly it is not getting better. Those claiming that fuel use and consumption are exclusively responsible for every bit of climate change are promoting some very fundamental changes that will lead to huge reductions in human freedoms and also prevent advancements in large sectors of the world population, because advancment does require more energy. That fact should be obvious to everybody: Energy availability reduces the need for human labor to provide survival, and allows humans to advance beyond spending all their effort just to have food to eat. Basics like light and clean water do require energy, as does growing enough food to stay healthy. And the present capture of renewable energy is inadequate to the task.  Consider that burning wood and dung for heat is using renewable resources while generatig lots of pollution.

And the very worst will come when the realization hits that the climate change is a natural cycle and that the world can adapt to a warmer climate very well, and there is nothing that can stop it. Certainly things will change and less energy will need to be spent on keeping warm. Things may not be the same and those regions that are too cold for crops may now work very well for farming. POlar bears will move farther north and so will other species.

And an interesting situation will arise when enough of the population realizes that all of the sacrifices were in vain. Evolution does not stop, it has been going on all of this time, but nobody has noticed. Those who gained the most power and wealth by promoting the panic will not be willing to give up all that power and wealth without some conflict. The times will continue to change.

You can take a stinking pig and put on lipstick, eyshadow, and rough over a good base makeup, but when you are all done it is still a stinking pig. ( (This is an analogy, not actual advice, lest any be offended.)

Really, I would rather call it F-Book, which has a better and more accurate ring to it.

Trick Or Treat Economy

F.B. is right! just owning a bit of stock simply because bank interest rates are much less than inflation does not mean much. If my investments stay flat I break even! When we read about investors dumping a few thousand shares of some $155 per share stock, those are the ones who are seriously into stocks, and probably in that 1% or at least the top 5% of wealth.

And since wealth=power, and with the fed working primarily to benefit them, that leaves the bottom half of wealth holders in the abandoned realm. And we all know that inflation is most hurtful to those who are not able to conveniently increase their incomes. THAT includes a whole lot of our population, myself included.

Really a great piece of writing, this article. One thing about the federal reserve and the comment "That it mostly healped stock prices." When did they ever have any othe goal?? The federal reserve bankers ONLY seem to care about the stock market and their banker friends. It has been that way for a very long time. AND ALL of their decisions are intended to do that. So either the fed is very misguided OR they have a hidden agenda that is quite evil.

Oil & Energy Will Continue To Rise In 2022
3 years ago

Certainly both oil and most energy shares will increase in price in the next year. The one exception might be that California utility whose poorly designed distribution system keeps starting disasterous fires. If somehow liabiklity and neglegence are proven then that organization will suffer a huge libility cost. There go the profits!

For the rest of the world the need for energy continues to rise, and so, barring terrible mismanagement, values and prices will also continue to rise also.
