Certainly C.S.Lewis was a superbly inspired author, and a great writer. He did have a much better source of inspiration than most writers, though.
I would add one thing to the list of reasons why the present situation is going as it is, which is the lack of so many people to focus their attention and thoughts for any useful length of time. This lack-of-focus training has klargely been provided by our media very intentionally, claiming "that people need to be freed from having their attention captured." (This is an exact quote from an interview with an MTV executive MANY years ago.)
What better way to prepare folks for slavery than to have them be unable to focus their attention long enough to realize the freedoms that they no longer have. Slaves that can not recognize their situation and become discontented. The perfect slaves.
So I do see a hidden agenda, much as Lewis did. He was the meuch better author, though.
This confusion certainly demonstrates that not all share purchases are made with much analysis or research. Emotions and crowd following are still major drivers. Compare that to the group dynamics of a quantity of steaks on the hoof. (a stampede.) Quite a bit of similarity.
I still see too many unknowns and unwanteds in the future to consider owning an EV. Charging cost is the first, folloed closely by battery life costs, since I do not replace vehicles yearly.
Given that the taxes on gasoline are quite a bit, it is very likely that in the near future, or at some non-predictable time, there will be a new tax on EV use, probably a "per mile driven" sort of tax, to recover the money that used to come from the fuel tax. OUr governments love to tax us, after all. In addition, the relativly smaller number of public charging stations assures us that there will be no price cometition pushing prices down, in a manner similar to the petrol sellers having all agreed to keep prices the same. (The Oakland County Petroleum Dealers Association). There is a uniform minimum price, no upper limits, though. And given that replacement battery packages will be single sourced through delaers, those prices will certainly be non-competitive and quite high.
So an EV is just a bunch of unknown expenses beyond a high purchase price.
Certainly a nice, high quality Electric Vehicle would be a nice thing to own. IT would also be handy to have availableelectrical power to charge the batteries in that vehicle. While China appears to have an adequate number of places to purchase a fill-up of gas or diesel fuel, it seems presently that electrical power may be in shorter supply for a while. This might be a problem for some EV owners and potentil EV owners. It might even affect sales.
It seems like speculating on currency exchange prices, a bit too risky for my world. "Never wager more than you can afford to lose" is still good advice.
What we see, what is reported here, is the share price, at least I am thinking it is the share price. What is the actual price of a "bitcoin", in USD? and how does that value vary? It is one thing to own stock in an actual business and an entirely different thing to speculate on a currency and it's exchange rate. At least I though it was different.
Presently I have no use for either the actual currency or the actual shares in the company. But it is sort of interesting.
THis explains why buybacks are even happening. And it can also be laid on the backs of boards of directors approving such compensation schemes. And I still hear the excuse, "it's not MY money" as the cop-out of why they are so generous. And this promotes that income disparitywith the one percent holding so much of he wealth.
I had not understood the mechanism cllearly, thanks for the education.
Certainly it does smell like lipstic on an UGLY pig, in fact like on a boar. And certainly, from my own observation, the accusations seem to be true. Far too much "coincidence" to be unintentional. And so the name change to escape the attached guilt.
But that kind of money certainly does buy that kind of power, no matter how loudly it is denied.
So investers can buy the dip because that company can buy whatever it wants, justice will not prevail this time. Money can do that.
