The Delicate Art Of Forecasting Inflation Risk
4 years ago

Randomly passing out handfuls of cash will cause problems like inflation eventually. I received a check that I did not ask for and did not need, but did not refuse. Next we read about thousands in prison defrauding the gov out of millions at least. Will that free-money feed inflation? I think so. Aside from the bidding up of prices, which I have commented for years is real, the inflation dilutes the value of my assets, increasing what I must pay for just about everything.

Will it be a recovery and pent up demand raising inflation? Not in the time frame mentioned. The distribution os any useful amount of vaccine or other medication will take a lot more than six months. And the whole collection of anti-vax fools will also cause delays.

Thanks for an extensive report on the whole situation. This article provides many insights to areas that are far from obvious to most of us. So it was very educational.

The Electric Vehicle Space Has Shown Amazing Lockdown Resilience

Certainly the EV world will continue to do well, partly because those buying them have the resources to do that in spite of the lockdowns. It always makes sense to market to those who can pay for the purchase. The challenge for EVs will be the source of that charge power. If everybody had one the grid would be vastly overloaded.

The diversification choice was quite smart indeed.

The scout camera technology is very interesting, partly because in addition to all of the applications for small cameras, it could be the end of privacy as we presently know it. Consider a newly-built house with a dozen cameras embedded in the structure as one possible item.

Global Partners: Still Serving As A Hedge For Our Portfolios

G.P. has a lot to be thankful for even though profits may not have been as great as hoped or predicted prior to this plague. A profit is better than a loss in the vast majority of situations. Those making some profits today should still be around to make better profits next week. It is those making only losses that will not be around to participate.

China’s Economy Is Leading The World And Is Growing Strongly Again

This is very educational indeed. China as a whole is doing well, at least in the business aspects. It seems that those in charge at the higher levels have been making right decisions rather more than those at the top here in the USA. Of course having the police state to help implement choices probably helps a lot as well.

It had been very clear to me after my long visit there many years back, that China would certainly become a huge world power, at least in business. So it seems to me that trying to pick a fight with the giant is not a wise action. (Listening, Mr Trump?)

Very interesting and some very good news here!

Interesting about the India government banning those apps. I did ot realize that India was a police state like China is and has been.

The breakthroughs in the drug industry should lead to some gains for those companies in addition to solving serious health problems for many.

So there is indeed some good news showing. Thanks for the article.

TalkMarkets Tuesday Talk: Optimism Advancing On Turkeys

Some interesting articles and interesting thinking as well. There will be a recovery and it may be rapid if it is not slow and drawn out. I can agree with that, although I am not even certain that there will be a real recovery so that business approaches what we had "before."

And a VERY ALARMING suggestion for caution comes from a Bible scholar friend. That is a warning that these years may be "the last times" as described in the book of Revelation in the Christian Bible.

I am not sure what I think about that warning.

But if the world does end, nothing we can do to stop it, and so carry on as if it will not end. And then, if it does not end, well, one would be prepared for the post-pandemic-period, where the world does not end as predicted.

JPMorgan Admits It Was Wrong About End Of Bitcoin Bull Run, Renews $140,000-Plus Price Forecast

The one question not really answered is about what form of physical wealth backs BitCoin? It used to be that the dollar was backed by gold, until that standard was abandoned to assist the rise of inflation. So what form of physical wealth? Or is it just an agreement, which will hold as long as it is convenient, but can evaporate if a disagreement arises.

Perhaps an examination of the problems with having local currency prior to the federal creation of our dollars system should be in order. I see a similarity.

By far the most disturbing part of this article is the assertion about who owns how much of the wealth! Even if the numbers are off quite a bit, the reality is discomforting, because wealth is power. And we know that the power of the wealthy will not be used to the benefit of that bottom 80%, (or 60%) because that is not how "normal" works.

In a war-fighting zone killing and destruction are NORMAL, that does not make them OK.

Whatever becomes the stable state of humankind will be the normal condition and it may be a lot closer to hell, as described by many religions. Certainly not a desirable place. So perhaps the federal banking folks need to consider taking care of some folks who are not the friends in that top 15 OR 0.1%.

i FAVOR PEACE AND REFORM THROUGH LEGISLATIVE ACTION, NOT BY VIOLENCE.

I want to be clear about that! But certainly there has been a wrong path taken and followed for some time now. So certainly a few things do need to change. I hope that President Biden is able to steer without crashing. The previous driver was not, it seems.
