7 Out Of 7 Firms Have Beat Q2 Earnings Estimates
7 years ago

Companies with good news tend to release early, so its too soon to tell. That said, the economy is chugging away a little stronger than before. Besides trade war concerns and oil price rising unsustainably there is little to be worried about the next 6 months. The good news is oil will only rise significantly if the global economy is doing well and the trade war concerns are somewhat already priced into the market unless Trump does something really stupid.

Further Early Confirmation On PBOC Intentions

The US is preparing slowly as it tries to unwind the QE that the Federal Reserve insisted before was easy to do. Likewise it's trying to lowly raise interest rates so they can lower them if a downturn happens. I don't see one coming all this year and the beginning of next year unless Trump causes a major trade war conflagration.

Liquidity Tightens Just As The World Needs More Dollars
7 years ago

This is not all bad given the current administration is running a massive deficit again. The dollar strengthened which is good because the opposite would be terrible. The Federal Reserve is right to tighten liquidity to insure it can float all those new Treasury bonds at a reasonable price which is their primary job.

Alibaba Is A No Brainer

Indeed long run #Alibaba looks good, however, it looks good for the same reason #Goggle looks good. It's not bad owning both but my first dollar goes to a company that can survive in global competition without a government building walls to protect it. Even so, Google will keep making inroads without giving up too much, note their recent alliance in China. $BABA $GOOGL

Small Caps, Technology And Pharma To Drive A Renewed Market Rally
7 years ago

Transports have been weighing down the market. Tech has been leading the way after biotech gave a bump earlier. Pharma may recover a bit before the year is out but the safer bet is that large cap tech will keep rolling forward. Don't expect much from manufacturing or transports as long as a there is trade war gibberish going on.

North Korean Drama Over- CPI Meets Estimates
7 years ago

Will is the issue. Former agreements with North Korea were supposed to allow inspections and prevention of them getting nuclear material in the first place. What always happens is they get the easement first and then don't abide by the agreement. That's why the stance has been that they do their part first.

Regarding the Korean war. Yes, it was a long time ago. However, that is still the mindset in North Korea. Their twisted history makes them think that it worked.

I would hope that he would care about his starving population. The way to do that is to disarm. That has not stopped him and is not likely to. Sadly, N. Korea can walk away with eased tensions, a PR boost, relaxation of trade barriers with less pressure on China which will make it easier not harder for them to build more missiles. What the US gets is promises that are likely to be empty and/or deceptive and the discontinuation of a test site that is already broken and being decommissioned.

Last, Iran and North Korea are linked. They have and will continue to work together on nuclear weapons and missiles. One needs to shut down N. Korea now not later. We should have done more long ago.

Last, sadly there is quite enough out on what has gone on at the talks and sadly, it's th Republicans that are upset for a good reason. Stopping the training is especially in poor taste. It was a not so subtle tool to prevent N. Korea from thinking it has the upper hand which is dangerous. The training is also important to helping save lives if a war does break out there. Without it we are weaker and South and North Korea know it. No foreign power should be able to influence our military behavior let alone a tin pot dictator that is trying to threaten the US with nuclear missiles.

If anything people are paying more for less. The strong economy has yet to hit the retail market and it shows.

Enter The Market Realm Of Static

Less static and more yawning. That is not bad though. It is good for the market to take breathers. Slow and steady wins the game more often than pointy rises and steep drops.
