Palantir Is Up More Than 40% YTD: Will Rally Continue?

If the PLTR company develops software to somehow protect against spoofed caller IDs they will suddenly have far more income than they will know what to do with. Quite a good problem to have, really.

Otherwise, their profitability is closely tied to their creativity and skill in creating what their clients need. THAT is indeed an unknown variable.

Thanks for the educational and interesting post.

Charged: Apple, Hyundai-Kia Said To Be Close To 'Apple Car' Deal

Thanks for the detailed reporting. But to throw some water on the fire, the computer driven cars will be a non-starter for two reasons: First, the improvement in safety is non-existent for most people, since most people never are involved in an accident, and if they don't hate to drive there is no other reason to pay so much extra for a very expensive add-on. And the bigger reason is that computer driven cars will never have adequately good software, because the cost of a proper evaluation is far to great.

And the really big challenge for electric vehicles will happen as the number grows and it becomes clear that there is not enough power to charge them all. THAT is the fatal flaw in the concept that is very seldom mentioned, since it is a serious show-stopper.

Final Thoughts On GameStop And The Silver Short Squeeze Failure

Thanks for the interesting post. One thing, I did know one person who I would bet on if he took a knife to a gunfight. An ex-jungle fighter (USMC) who was still incredible a few years later. Also more than a bit crazy.

Why Pump & Dumps Are Dangerous

Thanks for the analysis, which makes perfect sense. And I can certainly agree that sometimes it is painful to be correct, when predicting pain and damage.

I looked at the rapid rise and immediately saw that the only way to get rich would be to sell, and that in order to sell, there must be buyers. That part of the stock market is quite easy to understand, even for those lacking experience. The time to sell would be around the curve's first inflection point. Not the most possible profit, but the surest profit point.

The expression "Pump and Dump" is new to me, but it makes perfect sense as a description of what happened. So will an investigation reveal anything that was against the rules? Probably not, but certainly there is a small of something in the air.

World Bank 2021

The world bank is always an interesting topic, thanks for the post.

Certainly the damage done by this plague is great, and there certainly will be scars lasting at least one generation, probably more.

But the crying over reduced growth does seem rather selfish, and indeed the main group that benefits is the financially elite. Stability with a bit of growth is adequate to serve the rest of us, except that now recovery is what we need, and the means to recovery are not obvious right now. The loss of jobs and the collapse of so many businesses and even industries has done serious damage, and the recovery will be neither easy nor rapid. And the damage to some areas is already incredible.

American MSO Pot Stock Sub-Index Continues To Advance

Interesting news and an interesting analysis indeed. This is a sector that I have not paid much attention to as it is quite focused and my preference is toward s diversification. But the general advancement shows that something is indeed happening and it will be interesting and educational to see where it goes.

Roll Call

Thanks for the encouraging updates. One challenge I offer is about one assertion: "*Tencent listed Kuaishou which tripled in value in Hong Kong today. This kind of euphoria is very unhealthy." I base my challenge on "value", and I am thinking that really that should be share price, which does jump around a lot, rather than actual value, a quantity that is much more complex to define. I always enjoy reading your posts, V L, and so I am just trying to assure that all is completely valid.

OR, if Kuaishou really DID triple in actual value, that would be worthy of additional comment indeed.

Steer Clear Of These 2 Popular Electric Vehicle Stocks
3 years ago

Once al of those electric cars are on the road for a while there will be a fairly loud question arise. Folks will be wondering where all of the power to recharge them is going to come from. Every one of those EVs is going to have a battery pack and each of those battery packs is going to need recharging. And unlike gasoline, electric power can't be dumped in to a tank to await being needed.

But that will not be the worst of the problems. When the shortage becomes obvious then the prices will rise quite a lot.

Do you remember paying $4+ for a gallon of gas a decade and a half ago? It will be far worse that that this next time because there will be no escape options available.
