Mr. Schumann was born, raised and educated in Europe's financial capital Frankfurt am Main. He received his International Baccalaureate Diploma in Germany and served in the German Air Force as a Private First Class. Mr. Schumann started his entrepreneurial journey by co-pioneering a $100 million market for American recycled Levi 501 jeans before immigrating in 1996 to the U.S. Prior to entering the water and water investment sector, Mr. Schumann served as Vice President of Commercial Banking with First Federal Bank of California and Chairman of German Tobacco Group. Water Security Fund resulted from an understanding of water risk being the greatest threat to people, planet and profit. Mr. Schumann shares Citigroup Global Chief Economist Willem Buiter's view of water becoming the single most important physical-commodity based asset class, dwarfing oil, copper, agricultural commodities and precious metals.
