An interesting and cautionary article. What is certainly true is that only looking at the star players who are huge will usually provide a rather distorted picture of how the others are doing. It is a bit like the statistical "method of selected data", which is how to get the results required independent of reality That is why some folks claim that all was fine, when actually only the stars players were OK.
The out-of-sight trice to earnings ratios can be explained as the result of a "stampede", based on euphoria. The stock market has always had an emotional ingredient and now is no exception. That is part of the reasons why it is a challenge to predict accurately and consistently. Raging emotions among the unstable are very difficult to predict.
A bit of additional information posted elsewhere reminds us that production of any vaccine or medication will take a while and that getting the majority of folks vaccinated will be a long and tedious process. And even if enough for everybody were available tomorrow, the logistics of vaccination will take quite a while. Recall the long lines for the TB and polio vaccinations back in the 1950's. And that was with a community willing and able with no noisy opposition.

Consider that the means to get a profit is to sell high after buying low, and considering that many folks are in stocks to make a profit, increasing sales after a rise makes sense. And consider that with many sales offers the price will drop, what else could we expect??? Yes, the waters are choppy. That is the way it works.
