I don't think Microsoft has what it takes. Historically, Apple doesn't invent products, they take a product which never quite realized its potential and made it better. They did it with the mp3 player, the tablet and are now doing it with mobile payments and the Apple Watch.
Microsoft by contrast always follows Apple. Anything they do, they try to make better. Once ipods took off, they came out with the Zune which flopped. When iPads took off, they came out with the Surface tablet which flopped. When the iPhone took off, they came out with the Windows phone which flopped. They just don't have what it takes.
Tile doesn't work with older Apple products either. It only works with the iPhone 4s or higher and I have iPhone 4. I also have an ipad 2, but that's too old as well.
In fact I just bought an iPad Air and one of the reasons was to get Tile compatibility. I was literally going to buy a Tile yesterday but stopped in my tracks when I saw two problems:
1. People have been waiting as long as a year for the Tiles they ordered. They can't make them fast enough because they only had one injection mold machine. The machine is necessary to make the sealed, waterproof case which has been a huge bottleneck for them. They did just finally get a 2nd machine which should cut down on the wait time, but it would still be several months.
2. I saw that Tiles only last ONE YEAR! Then the battery dies and its worthless since you can't replace it yourself. You have to buy a brand new Tile every single year. That was a deal killer for me.
Then again... every time I can't find my wallet, I say I wish I had one of those things.
I think Apply Pay will take over the industry. Likely spell the end for bitcoins and all those virtual currency, many of which lack credibility (Mt.gox anyone)?
Let's not forget where these currencies got their start - to let pedophiles, drug dealers, arms dealers and every other seedy type practice their illicit transactions on the dark internet's Silk Road. Personally I would never trust my money to these types. People don't even know who really invented Bit Coin!
Great, I really appreciate that. It's always easy to find articles on the blockbuster stocks. Niche and longtail stock info is harder to come by. I will check out your other articles now and glad I was tipped off to this site.
