What @[DRM](user:130312), @[Joseph Cox](user:127658), and others have tried to explain is that, as horrific as the growing death toll from COVID-19 is, the death toll from shutting down the economy would be far worse. From starvation, malnutrition, homelessness, not getting access to proper health care, etc. Even violence and abuse. We world would be best serve while reopening. But we can be smart about it - social distance and wear a mask. Those who say not to... I have no idea what they are thinking or why.

USA locksdown > other countries follow > 3 billion people in this world live hand to mouth. Now these people are starving. Did you read the story of an Indian mom who drown her children because she couldn't feed them during the lockdown? This is what half the world is going through, not you.
Meanwhile, the zombies are ignoring the reasons other countries are able to control it while having no rules except common sense. So you put on your mask if you plan to breath over people but don't expect others to follow your narrow thought process.

Very true, but a total lockdown will kill us just as easily, if not more so. We could probably be fine without a lockdown if everyone just wore a mask, practiced good hygiene and avoided large gatherings. But a lot of people are sadly idiots.

He's not saying the disease isn't real, he's just saying that there's a lot of conflicting info out there and that some people are over reacting and letting their fear get the better of them. You can't shut down the entire economy, or quite frankly EVERYONE will die from homelessness and starvation. We need to keep this all in perspective.
These are all fair points to argue. Don't shut down those who disagree. These are serious issues that need to be debated. Everyone wants people to be safe, but we have to balance those needs against people's rights and freedoms. DRM is clearly a patriot. He should not have to apologize for that.
He has a right to disagree and I've noticed he has always remained respectful despite having so many take a counter viewpoint. He hasn't resorted to insults or name calling s many would. Healthy debate is good. Please don't try to eliminate it by making people feel unwelcome.
