Big Wave Trading Weekend Synopsis
The bifurcation in the current overall market is simply something I am not willing to casually overlook right now. The last time I saw something this extreme was back in 1999/2000 and that did not turn out well.
Nasdaq 100 Struggles; Dow Inches Out Gains
November closes out on a sour note despite gains for the month. Volume soared as end of the month rebalancing flooded the final hour of trading.
Stocks Close Slightly Higher
Much of the day the Nasdaq appeared to be well on its way moving higher on excellent volume. Crude oil was moving lower as headlines over an OPEC deal were pessimistic about a supply cut.
Stocks End Lower; Russell Breaks 15 Day Win Streak
It was bound to happen to the Russell 2000 index. We finally saw a down day. One heck of a win streak for the small cap index as the final win streak ended at 15 days.
BWT Weekend Synopsis - Nov. 27
The Russell 2000 at the highest overbought reading I can remember going back at least 10 years if not more. Following its 15th up session in a row, it is also doing something I have never seen in my investing lifetime.
Russell 2000 Win Streak Continues As Volume Expands
Telecom stocks were the big winners yesterday while healthcare was the biggest loser on the session. While we would love for small caps to pull in and consolidate we clearly have a situation where panic buying is taking place.
Positive Start To The Week; Energy Leads
Energy was back in the headlines as crude oil jumped nearly 5% on the day. Small caps stocks continued their run as the Russell 2000 closed higher for the 11th session out of 12.
BWT Top Current Holdings Review - Monday, Nov. 21
While I am operating very carefully in the very volatile and extreme v-shaped price movement markets of 2015 and 2016 in my own personal accounts, any one of the long positions listed below could have produced some very large short term returns.
BWT Weekend Update - Nov. 20
It does appear that a pullback is starting in the overall market but the Russell 2000 simply is not having any of it. I assume if the market continues to pullback, this index will decide to play catch up. For now, its strength continues.
Gains Continue As Yellen Hints At Rate Hike
Shippers finally came back to earth as DRYS, SINO, and ESEA among others finally came back to earth. DRYS had been halted after running from $4 to over $100 a share.
Volume Drops As The Dow Breaks Its Winning Streak
A light volume pullback is what the doctor ordered and we finally saw a pause in the recent uptrend. The Dow needed to a break after closing higher for 7 straight days.
Rally Continues; Nasdaq Joins The Rally
After struggling for a few sessions, the Nasdaq decided to join the rally.
Small Caps Continue Run; Nasdaq 100 Slumps
All-time highs in the Dow and Russell 2000 is not a bearish signal by any stretch of the imagination. We do have some extreme overbought readings on the Russell.
BWT Top Current Holdings Update And Review
The markets have been very volatile the past two years and this is why I am long so many positions. The ideal situation would be 5 stocks 20% of my account capital in each.
Big Wave Trading Weekend Update - Sunday, Nov. 13
The velocity of the recovery to new highs in the Dow and Russell 2000 was stunning. Probably even more impressive was the fact that the DJT broke out ahead of the election.
Dow And Nasdaq Head In Opposite Directions
Just when you thought the market could not get any weirder we give you yesterday's market.
