Canada May Win The Trump Trade Game At Others' Expense
True but Trump seems to have a way at causing angst where there shouldn't be. I would not bet he doesn't get into it with our more liberal Northern partner.
A Fizzle To The Trump Rally Yet?
The economy should stay on pace to rise moderately for the next 6 months unless disrupted. Mostly this is due to prior policies. Like past presidents, the economy they inherit defines the first 6 months to year in Presidency. Thus calling it a Trump rally is really attributing it to him for not doing anything.
We need to see what he does to change things. Actions speak.
Agriculture Markets Report - Wednesday, Jan. 25
Anti globalization will not just make us poorer but will destroy our ability to sell agriculture and other things effectively overseas. A global trade war will pull most states into recession.
Blinding Flash Of The Obvious
The Federal Reserve is the ugliest thing to face because they are actively killing the economic system and growth, destroying our ability to get out of recessions, and creating a system where they are the holders of monetary power and wealth not Congress or any elected leader. Last, they are not elected and have no issue about destroying the economy if threatened and helping the economy in the short term even though it is debilitating in the long term.
Any President or Congressional leader should be cautious about the motivations and bent of a branch of government the can't control and that regularly declares itself as not part of the government and more important than any elected official or even group of them.
In Stunning Admission, Draghi Says A Country Can Leave Eurozone But Must "Settle Bill First"
In most cases, if they could afford to pay to leave they wouldn't leave. And if they can't they won't want to leave. I guess this is focused on England exclusively, in which case they won't pay. So what does it all mean. Not much.
The US Has Passed Peak Savings
Sadly the baby boomers are better off than the generation following it. The simple fact is our economy looks worse because capitalism requires savings and capital to operate effectively regardless of what the Federal Government and the Federal Reserve say.
Trump Is At The Helm But Does Not Control The Course Of The Economy
Indeed as it should be. The free market operates as long as it's free. Unfortunately deficit spending, taxes, and the central bank's balance sheet expansion and rate manipulations throw the entire free market out of whack regularly. Thus, the only real thing the false market can really offer is usually something worse than the free market except when pulling us out of a downturn, which is often made worse by their own actions to enrich themselves and their friends in the short term.

Haha, strangely I am optimistic save the Federal Reserve and bad actions by those in power.
Retailing In America: Brick & Torture
The issue is less retailing and more debt that kills off retail brands. Also a smart way to do branding is to sell on line and have limited actual stores. Given the homelessness in America and unaffordable housing, I look forward to empty malls that can give way to affordable housing. If only work at home converted office space to living we might be able to enjoy the affordable housing our parents and grandparents had.

Trump announced he is starting his work on Monday not tomorrow. America will have to wait. Hopefully, a nuclear war doesn't break out over the weekend.
