The Taylor Swift “You Need To Calm Down” Stock Market (And Sentiment Results)
When you look around at many of the small businesses that were affected by COVID – as well as those impacted with “front-facing” jobs in leisure/hospitality and travel, it is hard for many to understand why the stock market is doing so well.
The Fleetwood Mac “Dreams” Stock Market (And Sentiment Results)…
In this week’s AAII Sentiment Survey result, Bullish Percent jumped to 34.74% from 26.24% last week. Bearish Percent fell to 38.97% from 43.07% last week.
The “Build Me Up Buttercup” Stock Market (And Sentiment Results)
The market is starting to ease into the “re-opening” trade (Cyclicals) – in anticipation of the imminent vaccine approval. We saw this with Industrials, Materials, Transports, and Financials all outperforming Tech in September.
The Scott McCreery, “In-Between” Stock Market (And Sentiment Results)
We are in an “in-between” period. Given the overweight to tech, my sense is there is still some more to work out in coming weeks for some of the overvalued pockets of tech/saas, etc.
The Barry White, “Never Gonna Give You Up” Stock Market (And Sentiment Results)
The catalyst for change (an abrupt move of money into Cyclicals) will likely come from science at this point. Don’t bet against science.
The Run-DMC, It’s Tricky Stock Market And Sentiment Results
Signals are mixed. We’ve moved a long way in a short period of time. Some stocks are extended, but many sectors/stocks are trading at valuations that will prove to be attractive buys for the intermediate-term.

I agree, not causal - coincident. But given the premature move, there will have to be continuous noise in the coming weeks to justify the initial action.

Hi Gary. Thanks for your comment. I addressed this point (and the lagged effect of tightening/loosening) in the second to last paragraph. Hope that helps. T.J.
