Discovery Stock Is Up 123% This Year — Thanks To The GameStop, AMC Short Squeeze

Thanks for the article. It is always interesting to see groups actually learn something from the disasters that hit others. I always try to learn from them, but certainly I am a minority i that area. Certainly the short selling game is risky, now it seems that some will actually try to avoid the damage. Impressive indeed.

Thanks for an encouraging and educational post about a topic not directly financial, but very valuable. I really wonder about what sort of emergency treatment could bring about any recovery of the loss, and think that would be almost as valuable as lifesaving skills to know about. (VERY valuable, that is)

I am hoping also that your recovery is both rapid and complete. And I am aware of the painful assault of that breathing tube.

I was expecting at least a short discussion of what was thought to be the force behind the increases and decreases.

Gasoline prices here have climbed fro $1.75 per gallon to $2.55per gallon, all in the last few weeks. So the oil producers are making a lot more profit, it seems.

I wish them "Lots of Luck," and every bit of it BAD !!

A non-diversified portfolio will indeed be subject to forces that would not afflict a diversified portfolio. And there are some non-logical drivers to the public acceptance of these companies.

The Global Financial End-Game

Giving us a summary of recent history in this format is quite a way to go. I like it, but I wish it were wrong. But it is correct, although the motivations may have been different, the actions seem to be as described. The really nasty part of an "endgame" is that it reaches an end.

I am reminded of the close of that book from the Sixties,"On the Beach", where the declaration says: This Is The Way The World Ends, NOT With A Bang, But A Whimper."

So is there an escape? I am certainly not one for giving up, or groveling in fear, but it seems that somehow the captains have sailed us into an area full of rock shoals. Who holds the map to get out of the mess??

What Else could a CEO possibly say??? "Our business is going to grow huge and so all investors will get very rich" is the standard message, this one is no exception. Correct or not does not really matter at all.

Any lack of adequate protection and security will be the very rapid downfall of such services, causing the stock to plummet very rapidly. So while the product may appeal to some, the quality of that product will be a very serious challenge, based on seeing the current wave of hackers.

Certainly those already in the take-out business only had to make smaller adjustments, while sit-down dining is almost non-existent. The issuing of government closure orders has certainly done some serious damage, and the government response has been random.

The fact that some are still prospering suggests that some business models work very well, with some product offerings.

Unfortunately the road to recovery will be littered with those who do not make it.
