Director, Mishcon Purpose, Mishcon de Reya LLP, Coined ESG (2004), delivered the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (2006), entrepreneur, Investment Advisor to UN, speaker, writer. My career has been a sustainability exploration through UK journalism (1986-91), founding an environmental advisory firm in Bangkok (1991-94), and then developing a Southeast Asian environmental business for the Swiss SGS Group (1994-1998). I moved to Paris (1998-2000) to manage the International Chamber of Commerce's energy and the Natural Capital Declaration (2012). We trained 1000's of bankers in environmental and social risk. In 2021 the UN-PRI (Board member 2006-2012) has 4,000 investors representing US$ 100 Trillion. Since leaving the UN in 2012 I've built The Blended Capital Group. We drive change-making projects ranging from start-up last mile businesses in Africa to development of Inflection Point Capital Management (2012-17) and on to explore systems change with the world's sovereign wealth funds. TBCG's focus is driving impact at scale through finance TBCG knows change happens from the ground up so: * We backed MWEZI in 2012. Nine years on we're serving 55,000 agricultural out-grower families with PayGo clean energy and productive agri-tech around Lake Victoria. * With UNDP we developed the Gaziantep Declaration (2019) focused on mobilising finance to serve refugee/IDP needs in the host cities welcoming them. 40 Global Mayors joined this dynamic process. * We dug into critical issues around Africa's agricultural value chain. I Chaired the International Board (2016-2020) of SOS SAHEL, an NGO working on food security and nutrition across the Sahel. We have to address systemic issues also so: *In 2011-2012, I supported Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown in his work on financial stability and sustainability. * I Chair the Board of UK Charity Future-Fit Foundation driving fundamental systems change through evidence-based science for corporate transformation. * I worked with the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General to launch the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance in Paris in 2015. I attended 14 UNFCCC CoPs 1998-15. * I am a Board member of Global Infrastructure Basel since 2012. GIB created the SuRE Standard and are now exploring safe sustainable infrastructure for the world's children.less
