Thomas Walek is a career-long communicator and entrepreneur. He currently serves as Senior Counselor at RFB|Peaks Strategies, the capital markets and financial services specialty group within RF|Binder, which acquired Peaks Strategies in October 2023.
From 2016 to 2023, Tom was Founder and Managing Partner of Peaks Strategies, an independent marketing communications firm that provided innovative and impactful solutions to public and private clients in global capital markets, alternative and traditional asset management, digital finance, fintech, and financial and professional services.
Tom is a pioneer in financial and capital markets communications and works with clients to define, differentiate, promote and protect their brands, visibility, and reputations.
Prior to Peaks Strategies, in 1998 Tom founded Walek & Associates and built it into a leading global financial and capital markets PR boutique serving multinational brands and emerging leaders from offices and partnerships in New York, Boulder, Hong Kong, and London. Walek & Associates received numerous awards and recognitions from organizations including O’Dwyer’s, PR Week, and The National Investor Relations Institute. Walek sold that firm in 2013.
Tom is recognized as a financial public relations thought leader with articles and white papers published in the CFA Institute’s “Enterprising Investor,” AIMA Journal, and many others. Tom received The Hedge Fund Journal’s award for “Outstanding Contribution: Hedge Fund Media Communications” and Trout Unlimited’s Conservation Award in Communications. His companies have for many years received the Best North American Communications Firm award from London-based Hedgeweek.
After graduating with honors from the School of Journalism at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Tom was a journalist and Assistant Bureau Chief covering the early development of the financial derivatives markets from the trading floors of the Chicago futures exchanges. He then became a partner at Weiser Walek, where he established and grew the financial PR firm's New York office.
