The haredi community was hit hard, with something like a 70% t0 90% infection rate. Then bam, no more infections. So I do believe they have achieved immunity. But immunity seems to only last about 2 months which makes herd immunity impractical - how to get everyone sick, fast enough, before the two months are up? And without overwhelming the hospitals?

Israel has an advantage that it's civilians actually wear masks and don't think it is an assault on their civil rights when mask wearing is made mandatory. In the US, if you tell someone to wear a mask, it could literally end up with your being shot dead!

I thought #Trump ordered all the meat processing plants back to work? He didn't care about the high infection rates there. Those places are breeding grounds for infection!

I keep reading that vaccines take 20 years on averag to develop. How can people say it will be ready in 12 to 18 months? Doesn't seem realistic to me. I think it's governments just trying to give people false hope.

Not necessarily. Many startups won't be able to survive the pandemic without an influx of cash. So it could be win-win for a promising startup that may not have offer a crowdfunding campaign otherwise.
