So we should all let ourselves just get infected? What about the long terms effects of the disease for those who survive. Everyone only talks about the death rates but so many that recover, are stuck with permanent heart and/or lung damage, and other ailments.

You continue to always conflate all deaths. You need to differentiate between avoidable and non-avoidable deaths. You can't avoid cancer. You can avoid dying in a drunk driving accident by not being drunk and by wearing a seat belt. COVID-19 is completely avoidable.

Yes, I suppose if I cut my heart out, and looked at the situation in such a cold, logical way, that does make sense. But our hearts is what makes us human. And in this case, the author is talking about kids! Children who are just starting out in this world, not finishing them. And from a purely logical perspective - They have yet to show their potential. Who knows what great achievements of the future will be lost should they die.
