I had, perhaps unreasonably, that a dividend DOG was a loser. Clearly that is not the meaning used here. Perhaps "Dividend Darlings" would be a more obvious description. Certainly, words meanings and interpretations are quite important.
Creating investment portfolios must be an arduous effort, requiring a great deal of investigation and fair amounts of insight and expertise.

The unintended beneficiaries would seem to be the brokers who gain a percentage commission from the sales of those high priced shares. The unknowing do not realize that they are paying to get "Four $5's in exchange for a $20, and so they may be reluctant to explain in detail.
Of course the fact that a stock IS rising in share price is a reasonable indicator that profits are likely, except for the instances where emotions are running the show.. And it is very clear that such a condition does develop on occasions.
Like many other areas of business, decisions based on understanding and adequate information are more often the best ones. A technical analysis plus insight into the driving forces is a great combination when both are correct.
And there is little substitute for experience, either one's own, or borrowed from others. It is far less painful to learn from ethe errors of others.
The Tesla is, after all, a high priced luxury car, and so, naturally, as lower priced not so fancy vehicles become available, the demand for high-end luxury will drop, with more sensable opions being closer to what many folks actually wanted.
The massive layoffs are certainly quite bad news, not only for those affected, but also for the economy in general. Not only is the economy shrinking, but the unintended secondary effect will be that the unemployment compensation to all of those folks who are no longer producing value will cause inflation. This is an additional inflationary force quite above that caused by the Fed creating all of that money for the stock market crowd. Inflation does not benefit the bottom 95%.
