I do not know what it is--coincidence or not--but i keep bumping into most of Biden's speeches. I don't necessarily look for them, but they just keep popping up in front of me. Today, was just such a case. I had done my early morning swim early so i could make a trip down to Rocky Mount (about 50 miles away) to get a good pool sample checked, and to do some shopping at Aldi's (a great concept for a store).
Anyway, i got home and just plopped myself down to rest for a minute when i got home, and low and behold, Biden was just coming on television to talk about his gas plans.
What Biden said, needs to be said. That is exactly the way to talk about gas prices and inflation. We wouldn't be in this situation except for Putin's War.
Biden is right that the current inflationary problem is because of Putin's War. Now he has to set some goal for "resolving" Putin's War in someway. And the sooner, the better for everyone--for Ukraine, for Russia, for Europe, for the World. Let's quit fighting--everyone knows how it would be best for everyone. Where everyone gets something, and no one gets hurt.
Sounds a little like a Pareto Optimum--doesn't it?
Have you read the articles on the cause of gas prices by your fellow contributor Robert Rapier? He seems to have a keen understanding of the cause, and most of it is out of Biden's hands. I highly recommend reading some: Robert Rapier on Talkmarkets
This article was particularly good: Revisiting The Blame For High Gas Prices
I'm curious to know what you think.
Yes, but the US can't really stop Putin without a severe escalation.
"I cannot blame you Mr. Chen for thinking this way, but you have to start thinking more in "globanomic" terms, where the parties sit down at the table and work things out without war. And the time is right now to sit down and talk. War time is not going to make anything any better for anyone--it just postpones the inevitable. So what i am saying is this: it's time for Putin, Ukraine, Europe, and yes, the United States to sit down at a conference table and just work things out. You don't need a bunch of middle men to figure out what is a fair result. A fair result will result in a pareto optimum--where no one gets hurt. I do not like the fact that Putin started the war, but i can forgive him this one time. Now let's move on. Biden is currently the leader off the world and it is his responsibility to get this resolved. Today, not next year."
Putin started the war. Only he can end it.
And he has shown zero interest in doing so. And if he did, it would look like defeat, which he can not tolerate. He will most likely have to finish the job, to the detriment of both countries and the rest of the world.
