Thank you. It is not a timing mechanism, but you can bet that the herds are going to be wrong at times of big changes. It's worth at least asking the question 'if the public were over bullish at exactly the wrong time, might they not be over bearish - as they are now - at the wrong time as well?'

Very good points to this article. I would add that there are times you want to tune out the prevailing wisdom as well, because there are times when FOX and NYT are pounding the same themes (e.g. interest rates or other non-political market functions).
