Tesla Shorts Have Lost More Than $25 Billion This Year Alone
I suspect many of these were hedging positions.
Stock Split Magic
Stock splits tend to be used by companies to boost a stock when there is not much left to boost the stock either because they already used most all their good news or if they don't have much in the first place. That said, the stock had to have run up sometime before for this to work. So I think it's more a look back and a short term gain than any long term indication of strength. In fact, I view it as the reverse unless the company is smaller which they sometimes use to increase their shareholder base and get more investors because they are smaller. This is not the case with Apple.
CytoDyn’s Data: Approvable Drug Sets Stage For Near-Term Move Upward
We differ on this point. I am waiting for more news. It seems like the shorts think any news is bad and seem to blame and discourage the company from reporting (not like they listen to comment boards).
It's up to each investor to decide. If the FDA, the company, or the company that loaned them millions recently thought there was no chance, I doubt any of them would approve doing phase III. The FDA has better things to do, that's why they don't want to do another hydroxychloroquine trial despite the President's insistence. If the company didn't think it had a chance it would not do it to save money. And if the investor didn't think it would work, they most likely would not have loaned them millions. Unfortunately the other person doesn't agree because he thinks the company is lying. If they were fraudulent, I think they would just not do a trial, not submit to the FDA, not bother doing a lot of interviews, and pocket the money.
Anyways, the stock like any drug trial is a risk and it's up to each investor to determine if its worth the risk and how much to invest. I remain invested and positive although I think they have good chances with Cancer and HIV as well. So that makes me a longer term investor.
I hope this helps.
The Apple And Tesla Show Drives Stocks Higher
These stocks have just gotten a bump from a stock split. Although short term this is positive it always makes me wonder as to why a company is doing this at this time. Many times I feel its to boost the stock when it is overvalued and there is little positive news left to make it advance further near term.
Apple I feel will not have great numbers as the phone show offs and upgrades end, they fight with their online vendors about the money they take, and China US friction increases which may hurt their growth driver in Asia.
Tesla is a bit different. They will have rising production numbers as China sales and production increases and China is supporting the company 's business for opening production lines in China. They also are showing profitability recently although their cash flow is still dependent on more debt and equity inflows. That said, the company is sporting unusually high stock prices and metrics and after the split, it is uncertain the stock price will beat any further rise it gets 2-3 months after the stock split.
Mortgage Rate Decline Slowed By New Fee Charged By Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac
Fannie and Freddie previously was not sustainable and most likely will not be in the future. That is why downturns they rely on you, the taxpayer to foot their deficient cash flow. A fee is fine if this remedies this, however, I doubt it will. I also doubt the cost will not remain with the finance company. It will be passed onto you. In the end, this is why the US needs to stop supporting these and allow the market to make a system that remedies the US being the backstop for a private company. After that we can talk about TBTF banks although they got some remedies by making loans they won't hold and dumping them onto Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
If you say this doesn't seem capitalistic you would be right. If you say this seems corrupt, you would be correct. If you say this should be stopped, that is what I'm arguing. Yet it persists somewhat because it inflates housing prices which allows the government to tax you more. A unvirtuous circle indeed. This is one major reason why home prices are inflated.
State COVID Vs. Unemployment
Interesting graphs. Of course, lack of more stimulus will likely make these numbers worse. Also sadly more small businesses are going to go under, especially since most didn't get small business stimulus since so much was handed out to big companies instead.

What you are missing is that they are going for Emergency Use Authorization and then will file for approval. Gilead did that with remdesvir recently. Now the case you make for a critical approval will not result in a mild to moderate approval is naïve. Calling it a lie doesn’t take away from the fact that the FDA will want to control off label use because the safety profile is so good. An approval in either indication could result in an emergency use authorization.
Likewise, calling me ignorant will accomplish nothing. Missing the primary endpoint in a phase II investigational trial is not a big deal. The trial is labeled investigational because they are investigating what will or won’t work. This wasn’t a PIVOTAL phase 2b/3 trial. Missing the primary endpoint in a pivotal trial is a big deal. That is not the case here.
If you want to claim these facts wrong get proof from the FDA as to your claims. I'd be very interested because in a way you are claiming the FDA is also involved in misleading the public by moving phase III trials forward they shouldn't because they know they will fail. This they do not do although, there is no guarantee either that it will succeed or fail in phase III. If you know it will fail it's your money, do what you think you know for a fact. I won't stop you. I see no reason to continue this conversational line.
Jobless Claims - Bankruptcies Increase
This is not surprising. No stimulus will equal more not less joblessness and a weaker economy.
Fundamentally Speaking: Earnings Don’t Support Bullish Thesis
Fundamentals are not driving the market. Money movement towards growth companies or those that are less affected by Covid is along with mass movement to large caps who are less affected by Covid and can eat up small businesses. Intelligent people are moving money out of bonds and other investments into stocks. I suspect the next big move will be out of housing and commercial property into such companies as property values languish and rents decrease.
A Signal To Ignore?
Be careful betting on the whole economy, without further stimulus and support for those displaced, economic activity should wane some more.
