What the Polls Say

Date: Sunday, August 21, 2022 11:39 AM EST

Just got done hearing what the polls had to say.  75% of Americans think we are moving in the wrong direction and that we'll never ever be the country that we were once upon a time.  More than half the people in "both parties" dislike the people running "their own parties".

And here i sit trying to tell everyone how Great America is and how these could be its finest days and how we should lead other nations by our fine example.  The polls and I both cannot be right at the same time.  One of us has to be wrong.  Which one is it?  The polls? or me?

Well, folks, i am here to tell you, the polls are wrong.  Either the polls are asking the wrong question or the polls show that the American people need to start educating themselves.  And that is what i am trying to do with my America the Great series.  I am trying to educate those who respond to the stupid polls!

Good god, we just past some of the best legislation in the past fifty-years.  Things that will improve our climate.  Things that will keep us in the lead in the forefront of technology.  We have started to at least give guns some consideration.  We have (and this is important) helped Ukraine fend off an aggressive Russia.  And the polls tell me that we are going in the wrong direction!  What the fuck is going on here? ? ?

I'll tell you what is going on.  Forty percent of the American public believes a "demigod" that America needs to be made great again!  That demigod says America is all screwed up and he is the only one that can fix it.  First, he says we need to tear it down, and then he will build it the same we he built all the other bankrupted gaudy monstrasities that he has built in his life.  Donald J. Trump is the Fixer for America--that is what 40% of the public think.  And with him out of office (thank god) those 40% think America is going in the wrong direction.

The other sixty percent hear what the other forty percent are saying, and it scares the sixty percent half to death.  Good god, the 60% say, America is going in the wrong direction because hell forty percent of the population think we should let a "demigod" run our country in some authoritarian fasion (as in fascism, itself).  No wonder the polls are telling us that 75% of the American public think we are going in the wrong direction.

But both sides are wrong in their assumptions.  The one side is wrong to believe their "demigod".  The other side is wrong in believing that they cannot change the 40% to 0.1%.

But that is what we are going to do.  That's why i am writing the America the Great series.

I am not saying that everyone at every time period should say that America is moving in the right direction.  What i am saying is this: 99.9% should believe that America is moving in the right direction with some "minor exceptions".  And when i say "minor exceptions", i mean "minor exceptions".

Look, Linda was one of the people who thought that America was moving in the wrong direction.  And she has felt that way for quite some time.  I always tried to convince her otherwise, but just the same, she kept coming back to the same conclusion.

But do you know what.  If you would have taken Donald J. Trump out as an environmentally disgusting factor, i don't think Linda would have felt the way she did.  I kept telling her that i had seen other countries, and yes we could move, but i was not sure that it would make things better.  Canada was surely an option, but goddamn it, Canada is too cold.  Besides i do like to live in the Best country in the world per capita.

Enough said.  I think you get the point.  If you want to see America get back on the right track--put Donald J. Trump in prison where he belongs.  He has done the crimes.  Where is the punishment?  The republican party (although i think they should change their name to something more appropriate) will survive Donald J. Trump.  It may take some time, but we need to hear their voices without having to listen to Donald J. Trump's idiotic sideshows.

It's time to get real again, America.

ps. And for you fucking democrats, you need to know this.  Joe Biden is the best President in my lifetime (which probably makes him the best President in your lifetime, too.  My story began in 1947 and includes such luminaries as Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.  Think what Biden has done and you will have to think a lot.  And he did all of this with a pandemic going on, a Russi-Ukraine war (that is essentially an East vs. West war) going on, with a republican party that votes negative on any suggested improvement, etc. etc. etc.

It's Joe Biden that will eventually introduce Globanomics to the world.

And the polls say that America is moving in the wrong direction.  Hogwash! is what i say!

I saw your poll about 60% of Americans things Trump belongs in jail.  I'm curious if that's much higher now, after the classified docs and nuclear secrets scandal.  But 60% of Americans thought he belonged in jail before he even ran for president. What I'm curious to know is what Republicans think.

Initially Dems hated Trump, and so did a large contingent of the GOP.  But now, virtually any politican in the GOP kowtow's to Trump, or at best, tries to not confront him (like McCarthy).  That that dare to have been forced out.

It's seems like GOP voters are more galvanized around Trump than ever.  But is that the case? Or are they simply the most vocal?  I'd like to think that the silent majority has turned against him.

I'd like to believe the same, but that doesn't seem to be the case. In almost every primary, the most extreme and outspoken GOP candidates won.  The ones who were endorsed by Trump, lied that the election was stolen, etc.  Of the 10 GOP members who voted to impeach Trump, only 2 or 3 are left.

I agree with you, I think there are a few reasons for this...

1.  Most people don't listen to the news or were even aware of the ground breaking legislation passed. What they see is rising prices in stores and at the gas pump.

2.  Those that do watch the news are focused on Trump's potential treason and resulting FBI raid, not Biden's accomplishments.

People were NOT happy about where we were headed since before Covid. But if the next 2 years are a boon, we may find people are quite content to let Biden continue, despite his age.
