It's been a while since i have uptdated anyone regarding life here in North Carolina, and i thought i would give you a sence of where things stand with globanomics--thus the title i used was chosen because "status" really has two meanings. One meaning deals with social, proessional, and other standing of someone or something. The second meaning for status has to due with state of affairs at a particular time, especially in political or commercial contexts.
The purpose of this document is to primarily for use it in terms of the second definition, although their will also be "sprinklings" of the first definition at the same time. Globanomics has been out in the market place in time for me to get some initial level of book sales for globanomics.. It has also given me time to reflect whether Putin's War put a squash to globanomics for awhile.
So okay, with that said, what follows is the status of globanomics and me.
I have probably sold in total about "ten" copies of Globanomics. Most of those probably are a result of my friends' purchases; however, i did take note that i did sell one copy to someone in Great Brtain (e.g., Globanomics is available in various countries of the world who pay separately from the U.S. sold books) and one copy to someone in Australia.
Now i know that does not sound like a lot, but it is not all that surprising to me. I sold only "one book" this last month (we get our royalties monthly and we lag payments by about 1-2 months from the sale. None of this really bothers me. In my highest "high" i would have expected millions to have been sold by now, but even in those "super highs", i also knew it could be in the range of 2 or 3. And i am quite okay with where the status of things regarding Globanomic sales. Things could change next month, or things may not change in my lifetime, but regardless, i will always believe globanomics will come some day. And, honestly that is not a bad place to be (if you think about it).
Now, Putin's War and its effect on Globanomics. Boy, at first, i will tell you--i thought Putin's War blew globanomics completely out of the water, and that feeling remained with me for quite a while, but since Russia has been put back on its heals (i.e., from their initial goals), i can see very well how Putin's War might in fact, speed up the implementation of globanomics. When Putin's War first started, i will admit, i thought my entire theory for globanomics had been blown to shreads.
But i don't feel that way anymore. The West will not lose Putin's War. Putin may end up with a piece of what he wanted in the Donbas, but he is not going to get everything he wanted. The deals are being made right this moment with the Ukrainians paying the price, and having the most to say on how the Dunbas is carved up if carved up at all.
Although "military war" is antithetical to globanomics, globanomics does not rule out war--it only explains who the winner and losers will be when "war" is implemented. And the winner of any future "XXX's War is always going to be the same, And that is the West and all the other "freedom loving" nations in the world.
So as far as i am concerned the status of globanomis is still very good. Who knows how or when, just someday. As John Lennon has already said, "Imagine".
ps. There is only one section of Globanomics where i thought i would have to change things, and that is in the Freedom versus Authoritarian chapter. I think i would have written it differently now than i did before the start of Putin's War, but i still believe it can be read as is, even with Putin's War.
To tell you the truth, i don't really fear Russia and China (North Korea) as much as i do for the future of our own "democratic" party. Globanomics said war was antithetical to its principals, but Globanomics also said "Trumpism" is antithetical to globanomics. The free world cannot be lead by a U.S. authoritarian President. Now with that said, i think i have brought you up to date on the status of things.
I hope all is well.
I had read that Putin jus survived an assination attempt and is dying of cancer. Of course I'm not sure how we would know if any of that is true.
