The Gang of Seventeen

Date: Tuesday, August 23, 2022 8:54 AM EDT

Sometimes i refer to the group that follows my blogs on TalkMarkets as the "Gang of Seventeen".  Who are these people?  Here is what i think.

I think just about every one of them is somewhat smart.  I assume a lot of them have worked near or around the Government of the United States (or at least are quite interested about the Government of the United States).  I assume some our lawyers.

I don't think any of my followers are exactly like myself, although i think some are similar in nature.  I doubt if many are veterans (i am).  I assume most probably have higher level degrees past undergraduate school.  I doubt if any have degrees in both public sector and private sector curriculums (i have an M.P.A. from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania).  I think most have high IQ's (mine is 139, which always made Linda and me laugh because that made me "almost a genius"--because the genius levels begin at 140 and above).  I believe the Gang of Seventeen are good people.  I believe they love the America that i do.

All in all, i think the Gang of Seventeen is a pretty good group when i sit down and think about it.

What frustrates me about the Gang of Seventeen, however, is their complacency.  That might be unfair, but i think they have been too tolerant with the things that have been going on the last few years in America.  In fact, i think they think like a bunch of timid democrats, which is not as uncommon as you might think.  The Gang of Seventeen has more Patience than me.  Patience is another one of the Big Virtues, so i try to give them a break in that area.  Patience is something i am trying to work on, but it is a hard one for me to achieve.

I believe the Gang of Seventeen are made up of very considerate people.  People who are generally good people.  We all have flaws, but i think the Gang of Seventeen would be viewed pretty well as a whole when looked at from a Goodness standpoint.  I would not have it any other way.

I believe there is at least some organization within the Gang of Seventeen.  I think three or four of the Gang decide what the other Gang members get to see.  I could be wrong there, but based upon mathematical theory, i have reason to believe that is the case.

I do not think the Gang of Seventeen knows exactly what to do with me.  I think they get scared sometimes with the things that i say--or might say.  That does not bother me much either though--i lived with that kind of thing my entire life--and a lot of my superiors have always been concerned about that.  In fact, that is why i never made it to the Big Time.  It is also why i left Washington, DC at the age of 52 and removed myself from all the bullshit that i saw going on there.

I think most of the Gang of Seventeen knows a little about my theory called "globanomics", but i don't think any one of the Gang fully understands "globanomics".  That surprises me some because globanomics is not really that hard to understand.  The book which describes globanomics is really not that hard to understand.  Globanomics is all laid out in the book in fairly "layman understanding terms".

I hope the Gang consists of a good mix in gender and race.  I assume the Gang mix is at least as good as that of the Congress of the United States, but i do not know.

One thing i do not like about the Gang of Seventeen is how "protective" they are of my words.  Rarely do i think the Gang of Seventeen passes my words onto their non-Talkmarkets' friends and colleagues.  In fact, that is why i believe there is a Gang of Seventeen--and not a Gang of Hundreds, Thousands, or Millions.

Last month i sold "zero" books out of the six books i have published, including Globanomics.

And i think that says enough about the Gang of Seventeen.

Not sure if I'm one of your "17 followers" but I've never worked in government. I have an MBA, am in my late 40's, and consider myself of above average intellgence, though I don't think that means as much as it used to.  I don't like social media - I think it's destroyed proper communication and destroyed relationships. I never served, though I would have been proud to.  I am interested in politics but never worked in government. I am not particulaly interested in globanomics. Perhaps I would be if I took the time to understand it better.

I occassionally read your blogs since they frequently pop-up on the homepage and I often find the headlines curious. You never knwo what you are going to get.  Could be a 3-line muse. Could be a long winded rant, could be a deep and thought provoking piece.  It's like, as Forest Gump would say, like a box of chocolates.
