Pence

Date: Tuesday, January 19, 2021 11:01 AM EST

Pence is not a bad guy, but just a bit off Center when it comes to religion.

I have a pretty good feel for Pence.  We went to the same "white, middle-class, Hoosier, liberal arts, school when we were undergraduates.  I graduated earlier than Pence by more than a few years (e.g., 7 or 8), but i know the type quite well.  I had a fraternity of brothers at Hanover College just like the fraternity of brothers Pence had.  I was a Phi Delt.  Pence was a Figi. I graduated at the peak of the sixties (1969).  Pence graduated in the later seventies.

I personally never liked Pence's politics all that much.  And i always felt that Pence might have lost if he ever ran for Indiana office again.  I think he got the Vice-Presidency on a couple of well-timed flukes.  But just the same i do respect or forgive Pence for his service to Trump.

And i think that is the best Pence can do.  I hope he accepts that respect and forgiveness and then moves quietly out of the future picture.

@[Jim Boswell](user:38046), did you ever meet with Pence when you were in school with him?

No I did not. We would have probably been of different "ilks" anyway. I think Pence played things close to his vest so he could get on the student council and board.

In my case, i was just a total screw-off at Hanover. I played every intramural sport that was offered and there were about 10-12 of them. I would go to the library and take a nap before i woke up to take a break and a coke at the student union. I probably skipped half of my classes, etc. I was a B+ type of student.

I don't think Pence was much like that.

I'd vote for Pence in 2024. I think he has a lot of Trump's pros, and none of his cons.

It will be interesting to see who ends up running on the Republican ticket in 2024. #Trump or #Pence. I'd support either.

#Pence has proven to be remarkably loyal to #Trump. He has managed to tread the fine line of supporting Trump, without actually offering credence to his ridiculous claims. I do think he owns some responsibility for what happened at the capital building. He should have had the courage to speak the truth in the weeks and months leading up to it.

But when push came to shove, he refused to listen to Trump and violate the constitution and the rule of law. So he his loyalty to America does overrule his loyalty to Trump, unlike too many in the GOP.
