The question for today is: "How long did we give Xi to make up his mind?"
-----
We all are fully aware that we have sent just about everyone of relevance within Biden's Administration to talk to China. We haven't sent our Secretary of Defense yet, but no one should think that that would be necessary.
So that leaves us waiting for a decision from Xi Jinping--friendly competition or unfriendly competition--it's one or the other. We just want to know so we can begin preparing for the future.
Of course, friendly competition means "world peace" and a certain degree of friendly capitulation. Unfriendly competition means simply that we will both go our own separate ways.
It's not that difficult of a decision to make.
So, even after gaining a new appreciation for "patience", I say either Biden or Blinken should give the good Chairman a call by the end of this month i.e., within the next five days) so we can move on with our plans--one way or the other, depending upon the good Chairman's decision.

ps. I have given some consideration as to what China's future looks like depending upon Xi's decision--and one choice seemed good for China and one choice seemed bad. I will let you guess which is which.
ps2. Regardless, the future of the United States looked good either way.
