Believe me or not, this is a true story. It explains why you got dropped my "business taxation" bomb on the Friday night of a long awaited, first of the many summer weekends because i do feel a little bad about it.
So here goes. Even though i have been getting moderately excited about the Race, i had not given the Memorial Days weekend much thought. Being retired like Linda and I are--just about every day is a holiday. So first of all, I wasn't thing of holidays and what they meant to other people. Shame on me.
Anyway, it was about Wednesday (which by the way has a strange spelling when you look into it) that Linda and I both lost our internet service--we had none. No big deal to a point, but we called for Spectrum support--which we were told would come between 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
OK, here goes. Thursday morning i woke up and it was the first time i had given this business taxation thought some real thought. I started writing down bits and pieces on little note sheets like i sometimes do, and i had the whole thing sketched out in less than two hours. Just the mathematics behind it is phenomenal and i don't really consider myself a mathematician. The 49.99999% number is perfect. It is as close to making two things equal as you can--it's almost a yin/yanish number $49.99%. You could feel the same way with 50.0000001 The United States is the leader of course with its power in the Senate to stop anything from happening that it otherwise did not want happening--all the U.S. would need to get is 1% from the rest of the pool to stop anything.
I think i have been wandering a bit in mind, so back to the story. Sorry about that.
Anyway, without the internet i could not tell anyone other than Linda about my new business taxation idea. I was going crazy, just waiting for the Spectrum service person. Then that is when i thought i should just go ahead and write it down into something i could present in Microsoft Word. I did not have internet, but i did have Word. So that is what i did. I worked and worked on that piece between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
By the time the Spectrum service person came i was all fired up and ready to go. Fuck the fact it is a Friday night, i thought, this is important stuff that i had put together. And I was going to bombard all the newspapers, magazines, etc. with the entire plan as i laid it out to you. I did that, never giving any thought to anyone's Memorial Day weekend.
Patience is a virtue, but it seems not really one of mine.
But even so, i, myself, am going to enjoy the Race today And maybe some pool time on Monday.
When you come down and think about it, these are pretty exciting times.
Exciting times indeed.
