Came down to the basement to write this blog, then got caught up checking my emails, finances, etc, and almost forgot what i came down to do in the first place. Then i saw one of my NYT "breaking news" headlines, and i remembered.
I was going to do a little bitching about how "stupid" our U.S. Government (primarily the Executive and Legislative Branches) has looked over the past 20-30, maybe 40 years.
Why?
Well, let's start with the Fed Reserve (Senate Banking Committee, etc.) and their mishandling of long term rates throughout the 1990s and the 2000s (more than twenty-years), until they resulted into a "global financial crisis of their own making, then dreamed up solutions that made no sense because none of the perpetrators of the crisis knew anything about the problem that they had caused. This by the way resulted in a large transfer of wealth (in the Trillions of dollars) from the poor and middle class to various more needy outlets (like the rich, China, etc.) who benefited from the overcharges.
Let's take the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Either one singularly or both at the same--it doesn't matter. We turned both of those wars into fiasco's.
Let's take the last thirty or forty years in health care. We are just finding out now that our high health care costs were systemic to the system--with every increasing health care costs year after year after year. Like a slow drip that turned into a lake. Forty-years and we are just finding out now how bad that our Government was operating.
ps. And now the coup de grace--it just came from one of my NYT breaking news--The U.S. Government is planning to increase the debt by another $19 Trillion during the next ten years.
ps1. And here i thought i had just found the U.S. Federal Government a way to save a significant amount of money, and lo and behold, they have already spent it and more, which goes against globanomic principles.
ps2. We really should expect more from our leaders than what we have been getting. It's a new world, and our leaders need to get in front of it, instead of 20 and 30-years behind it. (my opinion)
ps3. but as you should take note in regards to the value of my opinion, considering the fact that i am down here in my shabby basement typing my opinion with all kinds of broken down equipment, two cats, storage, wood planks to be used on a project that did not get started, etc.
ps4. In other words, my opinion does not count for much--about the same as the paycheck i get from Talkmarkets for being such a dedicated writer for them.
What is "Discust?" Or is that a typo in the headline and you meant "Disgust?
It was a complete "mental error" with a lot of laziness applied. I actually did give thought to looking up the spelling, but i did not, which disgusts me a little with myself--especially since it was a "title" mistake. I'll try to do better in the future--if there is a future.
Why not just edit it and fix it?
