I'm a swing trader of momentum stocks with a holding period of anywhere from a few hours to a few months. I run a number of screens to locate the strongest/weakest stocks out there, using technical analysis to determine my entries and exits. Trying to calculate the intrinsic value of stocks in ...more

Look At This Stock - HILL
Dot Hill Systems (HILL) is a perfect example of a stock bouncing on it's daily chart (not shown) where it should and displaying dominate strength to breakout on weekly chart . It has a new weekly closing multi-year highs.
US Dollar Likely To Rebound
I called for a larger drop in the Dollar mid-week because the Daily Cycle was near an end and clearly rolling over. Declines into Cycle Lows can move much deeper and longer than we expect, so I would not be surprised to see a few more sessions lower to start the week.
How Much Upside Is Left?
The Nasdaq is fighting to get back to 2014 highs and while it just may make it back I don't think it'll stay there. That will leave the Dow well shy of new highs and make for a failed attempt to break out if what I see happening plays out.
Benefit Of Any Doubt Must Be Given To Bulls
Well, I certainly did expect a move back to 1,820, under both the bullish and bearish case. I just didn’t expect it to occur over just 5 short sessions!
There’s Nothing Standard About SMPR (Standard Metals Processing)
Nevada has long played a historic role in American gold mining. Gold mining in Nevada is a major industry, and one of the largest sources of gold in the world.
Bond Cycles Signal Rotation
The bond market appears to have found a major low, potentially signaling an end to what has been a significant rotation out of bonds and into equities. If that were true, then it would align well with my belief that the great cyclical bull market in equities is about to come to an end.
It's Not A Correction Until ...
Is this a correction or isn’t it? A very common response is that it is not a correction unless the market is down 10%.
A Stock To Watch - PACR
I just discovered this stock over the weekend as I was going over 100's of charts and this looks like a great long setup.
Can We Continue Higher Next Week?
So now that the wild gyrations of last week are a thing of the past I want to recap how I played this volatility and what I plan to do over the next few trading sessions, as well as a few observation I've made.
The Pending Crises
The media rant about the market pullback is disorganized and showing signs that something is really amiss. What we won't hear them say is how the Fed is likely struggling to save their insolvent banks. The canary in the gold mine is the sudden instability in foreign currencies and emerging markets.
Markets Remain In Risk On Mode
As long as this weekly chart stays above 50 EMA and RSI trends between 80-40 the market will continue to risk. This chart shows risk on (when going up) S&P relative to aggregate bond market ETF. Ratio is rising stocks are in demand relative to bonds.
Cycle Lows Are About Fear, Panic, And Capitulation
Monday’s collapse was the 2nd such large decline of this Cycle, but this time is was deep enough to comfortably take out the prior DCL. With that milestone, we now have a Daily Cycle failure and fulfilled all of the pre-requisites for not only a DCL, but also an Investor Cycle Low.
Charting The Options Market Stages
The Option Indices were designed several years ago as a means of analyzing the stock market. They do so in a unique manner that allows traders to use indicators that are more tangible and easier to understand than many of the traditional stock market indicators currently available.
Navigating Choppy Markets In January
January saw volatility come back into the markets that we haven't seen the likes of since October as seen in the VIX chart below. We're definitely not nearing any extreme levels, but it is enough to have traders on edge, judging by my twitter stream.
Why You Need To Watch For Volatility
To keep things a bit simple, I am focusing on ONE aspect of the markets today – volatility.
Emerging Markets Were Catalyst For Selloff
The stock market has turned skittish, with everyone suddenly worried.  U.S stocks slid this week, as did world markets without exception, capping the biggest monthly selloff in more than a year.  The
