I have spent over 40 years starting, developing and exiting companies & award winning IP. I have taken IP from idea/through development/to license/sale and thus, have a broad knowledge of IP commercialization.
I lead Kirchner Group’s health and life science business. Kirchner Group is a boutique traditional merchant bank with a global reach.
I was a founding partner of TZ Health, a Singaporean company attempting to address health and life quality of the world’s aging population. I am also a partner in TZ Core, a Hong Kong-based company. I was the founding CEO at Seattle-based Applied Health Science, Inc. and co-founder and President of North Rim Systems and Computer Associates. I serve as CEO of PK LifeSciences.
I have been responsible for over two dozen inventions and other IP in such areas as health and life science, software, oil and gas, manufacturing and financial services. My projects have won a number of national awards and been the focus of media coverage ranging from National Public Radio to the front page of the New York Times. IP rights have been sold or licensed to such organizations as Bristol Myers Squibb, Sun Bank , the American Healthcare Assoc. and Exxon.
I have worked in academic settings – most recently serving as Senior Associate Dean for Strategic Partnerships & Enterprise Development at UAB where I was a professor. I have also done work for federal governments of the U.S, Singapore and Canada. I served on federal research grant review panels for the National Institutes of Health for over 20 years. I continue to serve as an expert panelist for the Canadian federal government’s Centres of Excellence & am an Honorary Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
I am an author & speak at international conferences. I have advised hundreds of organizations – including Bristol Myers Squibb, Vancouver Hospital, Baylor Health System, SRS Medical, Yale University, Boston College and Providence Health System. I have served on boards & advisory panels for national governments, financial institutions, hospitals, health systems, medical device & software companies. I have performed diligence work in a variety of areas including two of the largest Series A financings in biotech history.
