Foolish Nature Of Picking Winners: Trump's Tariffs Cost Ford $1 Billion

The post backs up my thinking with facts. Presently the whole tariff game is not wise at all. Better to negotiate and earn respect than to fight and hurt the innocent. What was the guy thinking, anyway??

President #Trump, unfortunately, seems often to represent the wishes of himself alone. In the tariff wars he certainly does not represent any of my feelings. I did not vote for him.

I find hard times for the fake money folks encouraging, although clearly financial disaster for the investors is certainly a personal tragedy. A currency based on anything other than physical wealth is a castle built upon air, subject to many different kinds of failure.

Extremes In Performance Of US Housing Stocks Worrying

There was a spike in building of the high priced housing because credit was cheap and it looked like it would stay cheap for a while. Then suddenly the prospect of more expensive credit dampened the fire, along with the market becoming saturated with large expensive houses. Suddenly there was a real shortage of folks willing to pay $2500 a month on a mortgage, and so the houses are now empty, at least around here. The realtors are sending out so many more advertisements that the desperation is obvious. Greed has found it's reward.

Amazingly enough, the higher prices of oil hurt far more folks than the few shareholders who benefit from them. When the pump prices rise most of us suffer from having less to spend on everything else. So I see no reason to rejoice as energy costs are driven upward by a president who is so far detached from 95% of the population that he has no clue about how they live.

Markets: Palaver

In the stock market it is much more than just "confidence" in our leaders. Much of the market seems to be driven by emotions and fears, not by rational thinking. So there is a certainty that even a lackluster day will affect the emotions of a few. So now the question comes about the relative success: do those running on emotion profit more than those running on logic and insight??

Please also acknowledge those of us who recognize that to do well in the stock market takes effort and skill and a fair amount of insight. Some of us have our gifts in other areas, and so choose to invest by means of a skilled investment agent whose integrity can be verified, and whose effectiveness is proven. I selected Thrivent, and Elizabeth K. as the ones to manage my investments, and for the past ten years that choice has been demonstrated to be wise. It is good to not only know where one has talents, but also where one lacks them.

The World’s Fragile Economic Condition

"Energy Limit" is what folks can afford to pay for energy. It has very little to do with availability. Previous energy shortages were exclusively the result of a concerted effort to boost energy prices, and those efforts were indeed very successful. But the higher prices did not really benefit the 90% of the population at all. The economy expended in spite of the increase, not because of it.

And the unfortunate thing about debt is that it must be repaid, it is not a sustainable resource, as claimed.
