Amazon: Fantastic Growth, But Not A Buy Right Now
4 years ago

When the giant crunch hits most folks will not be able to afford anything that Amazon sells. And in addition, there will probably be some little problem that de-rails the momentum of the share price rise. Probably not the sort of thing that any would suspect.

Back in 1918 there was still WW-One for distraction. Both communications and travel were slower as well, and so things did not spread around so very rapidly.

And I didn't copy your comment, mine was my own thinking. I wonder if you are also an engineer and if that is why we had similar thoughts

How Not To Buy Gold

I had not realized that owning gold was so complex. It does make sense but still it seems complicated. And I had forgotten about the rule that one can not have physical gold personally. There must be a lot more to it than just that part.

And once again, it looks like the rush to gold is propelled more by the lack of trust in the dollar.

There is often a lot of noise from the crowd hoping to make a fast buck from the frantic churn. and the noise does tend to obscure the more rational indications and make it harder to spot trends not driven by emotions.

A Japanese Stall?

Interesting article. It had been rather clear to me that the economy is, and was, in trouble when the feds kept dropping the interest on savings. some actions are so very wrong that no matter what they look wrong.

So my question is: If the actions of the federal bank are so wrong that they look wrong to ME, WHAT is their agenda? ho are they wanting to take care of at the expense of the rest of us? And who is paying them how much to do it?? And why hasn't anybody else, in a position to do something about it, DONE something about it?

I am thinking that there may be something that we can learn from examining the path and outcome of that 1918 virus pandemic, or plague, and I realize that I do not know much about it other than having read a very small amount. The portion of the population killed by that was a much larger percentage, I believe, and yet the nation survived. Of course the method of spreading the bug was much slower then. The USA was able to import large numbers of carriers prior to making any attempt at control.

It will be very interesting to see just how the distribution of whatever anti-virus medication goes, will all accept and even demand it, or will the same collection of anti-vaccine fools refuse? Withholding all treatment from those folks would certainly be one solution, and while it would not fix stupid it could at least reduce it's presence and offspring a bit.

Coca Cola: Earnings Corner

This interesting article serves also to teach that the mindset is a bit strange. The reduction of the rate of profit increase is regarded as a loss, even despite profits still being reasonable. what is ignored is that there is another part of the business, aside from the share price. Those folks who buy the product are not doing it to boost share prices but rather to get the benefit from the product. That concept appears to have eluded a number of folks in the financial sector.
