What I am learning from these articles is that "niche" portfolios thend to have most of their components perform in a similar manner. That is sort of what I would expect, and so it is interesting to see that it appears to actually work that way.
Thanks for an insight-full article with what looks like a valid recommendation.
I had not realized that P&G had marketed that many different brands of products. It does seem a bit strange to use separate names while others hope to be accepted with new products based on recognition and reputation.
Even if this plague is totally wiped out and no more folks become ill, the world will not return to the "normal" that it used to be. The damage to our trust in the government making the best decisions is destroyed, at least my trust is destroyed. Aside from that, the damage done by the federal banking system, which was mostly done prior to this outbreak, will probably never be repaired, although some may recover eventually. But how can decades of damage be undone? And especially when it appears that nothing has been learned and nothing will be changed?
LEARNING from mistakes has no effect if the choice is to repeat them again.
Interesting indeed. This shows what a combination of careful study and wise investment can achieve. Probably there was a fair amount of work involved as well. Making a string of well-advised choices in investments can do that.
Thanks for an educational article. Clearly this plague is hurting the whole world, not just us.
That is a clear example of just how much damage an incompetent bunch of local politicians can cause. If the mechanism i place in China had been used the plague may have been kept in a small area and not spread around the whole world.
Certainly the author's premise is correct. Buying and selling based on emotions is very seldom the best method of actually turning a profit. The exception would be for the gamblers who do it for the emotional thrill, with winning being a secondary benefit. That does explain the stampede actions that sometimes are seen. The sole benefit of always running with the herd is always being in the herd. Not my goal at all.
Interesting activity at this point. Unfortunately investment and speculation on energy product futures is one of those areas capable of inflicting real damage on the general public, like that huge gasoline price spike a long while back. Recall the $4/gallon gasoline?
Certainly far more regulation of the speculation of commodities futures was needed. Noy sure that it was created, but certainly the need is present.
Was there ever any doubt that a large portion of the stock market activity is speculation? Of course some speculation that is built upon insight and data is reasonable, but that based on rumors or emotions is always suspect.
Certainly this plague is a huge disruption of almost everything in the world. It does give the appearance of w well designed weapon, and with that thought, who is, or was, the intended target? It seems more like the hand-grenade with the hundred yard kill radius.
And the big vaccine / antibody concern is that no matter what, any cure will take a long time to reach everybody. The production and inoculation process is not fast, and certainly there will be protesters slowing things as they can. Some companies will make fortunes, and others will not.
