How Thinking Like An Engineer Can Solve Our Economic Problems
3 years ago

REally, the way good engineers operate is to first use science to understand how something works, and then observe the difference between how it is working and how it should be working. That is how engineers solve problems. Understanding how things work is a big part of the science. On some occasions engineers discover that a lack of understanding has resulted in errors that have caused damage and failure. That is often traced to wanting results that are not possible. Sometimes engineers can fix the problem, other times the bridge collapses into the river before any fix can be done. (Don't look now, but get off of the bridge.)

Certainly that "Delta Variant"of the plague hurting the world is once again demonstrating that it is able to adapt quickly. And while a whole lot of folks are already quite dead, it is by no means finished yet. But in some places things go on and some folks prosper. So life goes on for at least a few folks. That is good because those living still need to eat, among other strong habits.

Market Briefing For Thursday, Oct. 28

Because we all are aware that the frderal reserve banks are much less concerned with the plight of the "lower 85% " of the population, we can know that their intent is to boost the stock market, better serving "thier friends" above all others. That is what they always do, and what almost always does not benefit most people. And with it coming from Atlanta there is a temptation to call it a "Cracker Action", but I will refrain from that. IT is typical federal reserve, bad enough.

Can Bitcoin Hit $100,000?

WE need to keep in mind, as stated clearly in the article, that bit coin is a private process for transferring money. So it is indeed useful to those wanting to not attract attention of "the authorities", or anybody else. It uses Blockchain, which is some sort of system for being secure. But the one bothersome, nasty smelling, part of bitcoin is that somehow individuals MINE it with computers. So it is not a currency backed by real, physical, wealth. It is functionally similar to checks like we all use, and really there is no intrinsic value, a lot like our currency these days. In that aspect it is a lot like the "Bank of Bob" dollar that I was given quite a few years back.  Real currency, recognized and honored only by the issuer, but not recognized by our government. Bank of Bob was years too early and lacked the security of blockchain, otherwise it could have been a big success.

A very useful way of presenting the recovery data. It makes better sense than I have seen previously.  Thanks!

Tesla's One Trillion-Dollar Valuation Is Just The Beginning

Quite an interesting analysis, almost more sunshine than I can stand at one time. There is, however, one bit of cloud ahead, which is that every one of those battery powered vehicles must recharge those batteries to keep moving, and while charging stations are being installed, it still takes the power grid infrastructure to connect to the power sources. Presently that structure is not nearly up to the task, and upgrading it is neither  a rapid process nor a  cheap one. Just look at Texas, last year's electric heating troubles.

Beware! The future is approaching rather rapidly! Not so much sunshine then.

Why Allbirds Stock Is Not A Buy On Robinhood

Interesting about "AllBirds" and the carbon counter. Sort of like that old Calorie Counter of years past. The shock will hit when it is discovered that the climate change is due to a change in the sun's heat output. Difficult to adjust that, better learn to live with it.

Of course that carbon footprint calculation would be very interesting to see and understand.

Bitcoin, Ethereum Slump, Alt-Coins Hit Hard

Is it possible that the sudden sell-off was caused by profit taking? The concept of "buy low, sell high" does come to mind as a basic tenet of how outsiders view the market working. How else would one gain spendable profit from trading stocks??? Apparent wealth based on increased share price is not "real" unless it can actually be spent.

Theoretical wealth may satisfy greed but it is rather fragile.

Fiserv Inc (FISV) Crushed After Earnings, Here’s The Trade
3 years ago

Quite interesting: The company beat the predicted revenues, (predicted by WHO??) but the share price is falling. Given that such makes no sense, it appears that the rise and fall is being manipulated by the market rather than any actual change in value. This looks more than a bit like mob psycology, possibly at one of it's worst instances. what in the world is going on? And WHY is this happening? No answers or even hints about that.
