Apparently it was in a place that was very anti-Trump. So if they can help get the pro-Trump candidate to win the primary, the Democrat will have an easy time of winning the election. But if the other GOP candidate wins the primary, they'll have a much harder time winning.
I think Trump belongs in jail. 58% of the country agrees, and that was even before Hutchinson's damning testimony at the Jan 6th hearings. But that still leaves nearly half the country who thinks Trump should not believe in jail. And 1/3 of the country who is crazy enough to believe he really won the election.
Because of that, I don't think Trump will ever go to prison for his countless crimes. They would be too afraid of the ramifications. The response would make the Jan 6th insurrection look like a cake walk. The militias like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers would likely take up arms while hundreds of thousands of Americans would join them. It would be a very bloody response.
And because of that, Trump will likely get away with his high crimes.
I'd have to agree that the GOP is become increasingly extreme in it's views, which are only suppored by a small minority. They have become completely out of touch with most Americans.
Most Americans had been willing to overlook these extremist views in favor of a better economy and fewer Covid restrictions. But that was also before they saw the far reaching impact the GOP has exerted in stripping away their indivudal rights.
