Why do you say only in the western world. Many people in Asia still a landline phone but it's never used, and in the last 5 to 10 years almost nobody has been installing phone phones. Cable TV, in many parts of Asia it's already changes in terms of delivery and in Singapore cable companies are not allowed to offer fixed list packages, customer must be able to select a list for themselves, or even no fixed list, and delivery more an more by internet carriers.
