Oil Price Recovery To Linger As US Crude Output Continues To Contract
4 years ago

No sympathy for the oil companies, who certainly raise prices to the max whenever they have a chance. It seems that nothing except maximum profit to shareholders matters at all. That includes assorted environmental damages and a whole lot of risky moves that do not turn into disasters, fortunately. We never hear about the risks taken that do not become disasters, a fact that few will admit. But possibly there may be something important besides max profit every moment?

Hedge Fund Tips - Who Was Really The Dumb Money?

Once again, a text presentation would be far better than a video show. Easier to follow and better able to be learned from. Not everybody is entertaining to see.

U.S. Total Public Debt Increases A Stunning $25 Billion A Day In 2020
4 years ago

The author repeats what I have known for a long time, which is the unfortunate reality that debt does not somehow go away, but rather that it mus be paid back. And while "technology" does constantly provide a stream of new toys to spend on, it appears that the sell is becoming much harder. The energy crunch will be rather brutal when folks discover the actual price they pay for electric cars. But the truly agonizing pain will come when the cost of the new and horribly expensive computer driven car fad crashes from the huge cost over-runs that were carefully not mentioned. At that point, " The Revolution Will NOT Be Televised." (Quoting from an old song)

Bearish Long Run Fed Forecasts Are Hawkish Policy

Once again, "The Fed" is seeking to benefit those who will be making the larger profits. Clearly, keeping inflation to an absolute minimum will provide the benefit to the populace, even though it does reduce the income of the shareholders and top executives.

Has it ever been considered that "the misery of the masses" is what eventually leads to revolutions? Hopefully Ballot-box revolutions rather than the more violent ones.

I would much prefer a text presentation because it allows slower reading to more fully take in the information presented. Text also allows re-reading a line to be sure of the meaning and implications. As an added benefit, text presentation consumes FAR less bandwidth.

We Have Reached The Silly Phase Of The Bull Market
4 years ago

This seems to explain the motivation that I had attributed to madness, where instead it is gambling, albeit with "free money", which at some point will need to be paid back into the system by somebody. NOTHING is really free, the closest we can get to free is bad advice from slick hucksters.

Stagflation - Not Coming To An Economy Near You
4 years ago

The problem that should be very obvious in that deadly circle is the reality that not all wages will rise. In fact, MOST wages will not rise. Profits will rise to placate the shareholders and assure bonuses for top management, but for all of those "others", the ones not getting the wage increase, it will be a case of inflation with no benefit at all. Unfortunately it is exactly the sort of thing that central banks would be happy to have happening.

The really bad news is that it is the sort of circle that initiates revolutions. Mostly, in our calmer society they are ballot box revolutions, in other times they have been fairly violent ones. Perhaps, somehow, greed by the central banking system can be reduced a bit. Avoid the revolution!

Quite an educational revelation. I doubt that I would want to participate in such.

TalkMarkets Tuesday Talk: The Higher You Go, The Harder You Fall?

MOST unfortunately this analysis seems to be reasonable and totally believable. That does seem like rather bad news.

So I am really hoping that somehow the analysis has missed some detail and is incorrect. Hope, not believe.

The Road To A Post-Corona Boom (Foreign Policy) - Part 3

Of course the existence of such a reporting system was not mentioned, it would make a lot of the individuals lose face.

The system was created by the ruling government after the SARS outbreak so that Peking would not be embarrassed again by not being aware of the problem in time to act.

AND, as for the firing squad: How would YOU deal with a collection of lower level people whose refusal to follow the rules resulted in the rapid death of thousands of people?? A public execution by firing squad might possibly prevent it from being repeated. AND don't forget that China IS still a police state!
