Could the massive GOP win hurt $DIS? Republicans haven't had a great relationship with #Disney. Especially Ron DeSantis.
Streaming Cannot Save Disney, For Now
Dan Richards 5/16/2024 11:46:57 PM

Do you think politics plays a role at all?  Personally I think #Disney should stick to entertainement and stop taking a political stand.  But after they did, and then all the fighting they had with DeSantis, half of America doesn't like them.  Certainly you won't find any MAGA republicans buying $DIS stock.

I think #Disney has become too woke for a lot of people to support their offerings.  $DIS

How is $DIS consistently considered a stay at home stock? The bulk of #Disney's revenue is the complete opposite of stay at home.

Netflix's Glory Days Are Past
Susan Miller 8/26/2019 5:16:59 AM

I've read that for #Disney, the move into streaming is more about the data it can collect on viewers than the revenue it will generate from subscription fees. Disney can make billions off a single movie (Avengers Endgame, Star Wars, Frozen, etc.). A fortune off related licensing, etc. Streaming revenue is a drop in the bucket. $DIS

Netflix Plays With Pricing And Games To Attract Subscribers
Black Widow 7/21/2019 11:28:16 PM

#Disney has a large library and will likely steal some of #Netflix's thunder, but I don't consider it a major threat. It's library still pales in comparison to Netflix and is limited to their own vault of films and TV shows. I expect the number of people who would actually REPLACE Netflix with Disney is relatively small. More likely, people will have both. $NFLX $DIS

Disney Trying To Woo Fox - Technology Stocks
Ayelet Wolf 5/24/2018 4:30:45 PM

Unless #Disney terminates it's agreements with other streaming providers like #Amazon and #Netflix, I don't see the value in having a standalone product featuring their films. Most are already available elsewhere, why would I sign up for yet another service $DIS

Netflix’s Price Increase Signals Original Content Isn’t Enough
BreakingBad News 10/9/2017 7:53:55 PM

Good comment thread. Yes, #Netflix has much to offer and a rabidly loyal customer base. But the financials can't be ignored either. And unlike TV networks, they can't make up additional revenue in advertising without alienating the very customers whose loyalty the company relies on to survive.

I believe the solution is to take a page from #Disney's book and focus more on licensing. Sure Disney made billions of people paying to see it's lovable princesses, and other cartoon characters, not to mention the Star Wars franchise. But they've many more billions off the licensing of these characters.

Netflix has come up with some really top tier original content for both adults and kids. Not to mention brought over some cancelled shows which already had cult followings. They should leverage these character with licensing opportunities and bring a much needed additional revenue stream. $NFLX $DIS

Disney’s ESPN Continues To Struggle With Lost Subscribers
Michele Kalker 5/10/2017 5:39:02 PM

Good question. The value of buying #StarWars made much more sense as it's in #Disney's wheelhouse with movie production, licensing, toys, etc. And that purchase has paid off in spades. But #ESPN? I don't see the value. I think they should spin it off.

I never understood the value proposition of #Disney buying #ESPN in the first place. Can someone explain to me why this made sense in the first place? Where are the synergies? $DIS
