Mongolian Barbecue: Currency Over The Coals

Sadly it doesn't look better for them even if they get a bailout. Their government spending is unsustainable as is and their government adversely affects investment by trying to bilk investors to cover their exorbitant spending. The problem lays more in Mongolia than China.

Forces Of Movement In The Week Ahead

The #WorldEconomy is still in the dumps and the dollar is rising because of it. #Europe's trade agreements are worse collectively than individually which look less like free trade and more like a agreement with barriers. I don't blame #Canada for balking. Either you want free trade or you choose to suffer and fall behind without it. I'm curious about their proposals for the US and Canada.

Earnings Growth Finally Turns Positive

Thanks Sheraz Mian, it is a mildly positive sign. Personally, I am more skeptical about the following quarters. People have been mistakenly drawing overly positive continued growth estimates for a long time. Growth may continue if the Federal Reserve doesn't raise rates again and if they do, I expect some more weakness save banks which might benefit from the higher rate expectation.

Another Month To Go?

The market doesn't look to be headed to any major blow off, but definitely a regression to the mid of the long trading range is possible, especially with looming uncertainty. I wouldn't be too worried about anything worse for the time being. Those who can't handle the wide trading range shouldn't be in the market.

The rest of the world is showing softness again so the dollar looks to be strengthening. That said, #oil prices seem to be holding up so I don't believe a huge breakout is in the works. Just more of the same ho humming along.

The Real Capitalist Theory

Money is a human creation and enables insatiable demand which sadly money can never fill. That said, I agree that the loss of community, loss of free things is a travesty, but this is a social and moral issue that goes beyond money. We have had money for years and yet parents helped raise kids and kids helped their parents when they get old, families helped family members, religious institutions helped the community, etc. We have entered a new paradigm of selfishness and much of this "liberation" is done in the expectation that the government not capitalism is responsible.

Human relationships and commitment has sunk to new lows and seems to be getting worse not better.

Global Debt Investors: The Silence Of The Lambs

This end of the year rate hike has been expected for months now. Even so, it may not happen and if it does, it will not end the cycle. What will end it is any major move to do much more afterwards. Raising rates at the end of the cycle is dangerous and dumb but sadly, the Federal Reserve failed to do it for years before as they lowered to try to recreate the asset bubble that collapsed before.

Window dressing has always played a role in stocks. As a warning don't buy when it is going on although they try to make sure you don't get a change to buy or sell as much as they can when doing it which is an issue for the SEC which does a lot of nothing to their biggest clients.

This is really a minor pullback given its huge surge in July. Although the miss is not good, the pullback is not unexpected.

Canada Continues To Struggle In Export Markets

Canada has mainly been hurt by the big drop in commodities and hasn't really recovered. Generally speaking, hopefully for Canadans, Canada will gradually continue to develop its emergent tech and healthcare market segments.
