Nuclear Winter

I am shocked that stock guru Rida Morwa has announced he is selling all his shares and that those following him should do the same.

If you are a stock guru you cannot simply walk away from your portfolio as if everything is poison, because this doesn't jibe. 

Mexico like the U.S. is raising interest rates to 6%, from 5.5%.

Energy and users

*Today EDF, the French state-owned network of nuclear power stations, decided to shut in many reactors for maintenance. The result was a rise in the likelihood of use of traditional energy sources, however filthy. Cameco CCJ, our uranium stock, fell .89% while US Coterra (CTRA) rose as did GE, and Shell. Petrobras, my latest buy, gained 4%. Schlumberger Ltd SLB rose 2.5%. Plug Power PLUG gained 0.9%.

*Mexican Orbia rose 10.3% after reporting good numbers for Q4 and 2021. MXCHF.

*Earthstone Energy rose 5.34% on very strong Q4 and forecasts. ESTE.

*Shell restructuring now resulted in its midstream arm buying its pipelines. It is very complicated. rds-b.

*Ecopetrol rose in sympathy up 2.54%. EC.

*ABB forecast was cut by 3 cents. 

*Azure Power gained 3.5% at the opening and now is up 2.96%. AZRE.

Tech

*Nokia began its euros 300 mn share buyback and the stock gained .62%. NOK.

*Japan OTC stock rose 50 cents and Tim Getzel said it would not dump surpluses into the spot market at low prices.

*Vodafone VOD turned down the offer of euros 11/sh from Iliad for its Italian telco assets because it is not in shareholder interest, it said.

*Telefonica hit a new 52-week high of euros 4.43/sh in European trading. TEF.

Pharma

*TEVA reported on its Q4 which saw revenue down to $4.1 from 4.434 while operating income crashed to $78 mn from 406 mn. Market loss was $1.51/sh vs prior Q4 gain of almost the same amount and eps was minus 14 cents/sh vs plus 14 a year ago. There were some consolations, notably the non-GAAP impact of legal settlements over the opioid scandal of $.566/sh.TEVA stock rose fractionally.

*Merck rose 1.51%. MRK.

*Pfizer's estimate fell to $1.58 from 1.61. PFE.

*Novacure of Jersey jumped 2.53% to over $80. NVCR.

*Bristol Myers now is estimated to earn $1.95 rather than 1.97. BMY.

*Theravance reports 2/23 and now is up 6.8%. TBPH.

*VIR reports Feb 24 and now is up 3.25%.

*Organon is up 2.11%. OGN.
