BIX Card Connects Self-Custody With Everyday Spending
BIX is a neo-finance app built around a straightforward proposition: the digital assets a person holds should be usable for the things they actually buy.
The product connects a self-custody wallet with a Visa (V) card programme, allowing users to hold and manage stablecoins in an app they control, then spend against that balance at merchants worldwide. Purchases run through Visa and settle to the merchant in fiat, so retailers and online checkouts handle the transaction as they would any other card payment.
What Is Available Now
Standard membership is free. A virtual Visa card costs $9.99, works immediately for online payments and is compatible with mobile wallets. The company says there are no funding fees, and the US programme applies a 1% FX fee on applicable foreign-currency purchases.
Card spending is supported in USDC and USDT, across supported combinations of Ethereum (ETH-X), BNB Smart Chain (BNB-X), Base, Solana (SOL-X) and Optimism (OP-X). Spending limits are, in the company's description, flexible and customizable based on the user's deposited collateral, subject to programme requirements.
The business operates as Bix Ltd, registered in the Cayman Islands with operating offices in Dubai. BIX is a finance app rather than a bank, with card issuing and other regulated financial services delivered through third-party institutions under their respective arrangements.
Availability
BIX currently supports eligible residents of 29 US states, subject to identity verification and programme requirements. The company is targeting expansion to 49 states within six to eight months, subject to applicable approvals and partner readiness.
Imonitie sees awareness as the bigger hurdle. "There's nothing hard about selling BIX. The biggest challenge is educating people about its existence and the 20 more states that we will open in the coming months," he said.
What Is Coming
Several additions are in development. BIX Plus, priced at $119 a year, will bundle access to Visa Signature cards with eligible benefits such as airport lounge access, rental-car insurance and travel discounts. Packages depend on programme and country, and lounge access does not necessarily include complimentary visits.
Plus will also introduce virtual accounts, supporting incoming payments and outgoing fiat transfers that connect stablecoin balances with ACH, SEPA and SWIFT, including account details such as IBANs. Members receive priority support and one included virtual card, created when they choose.
Physical cards are planned at $99, separate from membership, with a 0.6% BIX ATM withdrawal fee. Under the upcoming structure, new Standard cards will be Platinum and new Plus cards Signature where supported, while existing Signature cardholders keep their cards.
Also in development is direct wallet-linked spending, under which eligible card purchases will draw against supported wallet balances without a separate top-up step. Until that rollout completes, card funding uses a separate smart contract.
Taken together, the roadmap moves BIX from spending stablecoins toward receiving payments and sending money in supported local currencies from a single app.
