Investing isn't an easy game to play, but it can be done well, even if you are a complete beginner. The trading world has undergone some recent changes and looks set to be volatile moving forward as we teeter on the edge of a global recession.

That being said, there are still investments out there to be made, and we'll be looking at six strong options for you to consider as a first-time investor. Microchips look to be the next big thing, while cryptocurrency has a future within the investing space. There are several assets that are worth keeping an eye on moving forward.

1. Property

Property is a classic and is seen as being one of the most stable investments you can make, even if it is more of a long-term strategy. Although it has been seen as something that might take a while to become genuinely profitable, the current housing market has meant that some homeowners have seen a 50% increase in their property value over the past decade.

Even though it has provided some great yields for investors in the short-term, property should still be seen as an investment for the future as this kind of crazy growth is sure to slow down moving forward. Whether you invest in funds that bulk purchase property or directly purchase the property yourself, you should always be aware that this type of investment comes with numerous risks and warnings.

2. Stocks and shares

One of the most reliable options for a novice trader, investing in stocks and shares still comes with a fair amount of risk, but if you can diversify your investment portfolio and not be too dependent on one single industry or sector, the risks do become somewhat more manageable. You should always do your research first, but if you do the required homework, you stand a chance of getting good returns.

3. Gold

Gold is not the power it once was, with our currencies now being much more liquid while very few around the world are still backed by gold reserves, though some countries have still managed to hold onto this tradition. Despite the use of gold declining somewhat, it is still highly valuable and has demonstrated extreme resistance to external influences, holding steady and seldom reducing in value.

What makes gold such a great investment is that it's a finite resource with many uses, meaning that if you can get hold of some now, you're almost certain of making a profit in the future. How long it'll take for this return to come about is anyone's guess, but if you want a long-term asset that will make you money further down the line, gold can be a great investment option for beginners.

4. Crypto

Cryptocurrencies are popular at the moment, and while you have likely heard about many of the leading digital currencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, there are many others out there that represent great investment opportunities. Trading has never been more accessible than it is with cryptocurrencies and so now might be the ideal time for you to dip your toe in and see if it's for you.

When investing in a cryptocurrency, it's always smart to invest in a coin that has a genuine use that can be observable. This means that there is a much greater likelihood of the coin taking off and gaining momentum, as opposed to coins such as Doge, which only increase in value when they're discussed by a celebrity and have no inherent value other than hype and volume.

5. Savings accounts

Savings accounts are very safe investments in that they're usually government-endorsed and often come with tax-free allowances, which encourage you to keep your money there for prolonged periods. While they're not investments in the usual sense, a good long-term savings account can bring in returns that are in the mid-single digits and so are usually still above the global inflation rate.

6. Microchips

Perhaps the most exciting investment opportunity on this list, microchips look set to be the next asset that absolutely anyone should be taking a keen interest in. They are essential to how we live in the modern world, present in almost all electronic devices, and in huge demand. This demand is only going to increase, so they represent great investment assets.

Microchips are a rare commodity and are highly sought-after due to their scarcity at the moment. They are made using finite materials, and so as time progresses, their rarity will only increase and become much more apparent. If you can find a way to stockpile these assets, or at least the raw materials that are used in their creation, you could make some serious cash in the not-too-distant future.
