A seasoned executive and corporate transactional attorney with 20+years of combined experience in executive management and professional legal services in both the private and public sectors. As an executive, Mr. Ashanta-Barker has led the operational activities for premier development companies and large municipal corporations. His leadership in these instances have led to the creation of top tier executive management teams, continuous double digit revenue growth (over 5 year span), new business lines, enhanced workforce competencies and exceptional and award winning quality improvement initiatives. As a transactional attorney, Mr. Ashanta-Barker represents and counsels clients on a wide range of finance, corporate, technology, and economic development transactional matters, including, commercial lending (term loans), corporate finance , private equity (fund formation and deployment of capital into portfolio companies and other investment vehicles), mergers and acquisitions, technology and intellectual property transfer (registration, prosecution, enforcement, work for hire, purchase or licensing), specialized economic development and incentive finance, real estate acquisition and development, real estate finance, entity formation and governance, commercial agreements, and media/entertainment agreements. In 2012, Mayor Alvin Brown appointed Mr. Ashanta-Barker to serve as Director of Housing and Neighborhoods for Florida’s largest municipal corporation, the City of Jacksonville (“COJ”) and to oversee COJ’s combined investment and development fund activities (approximately 50 million). In 2015, Mr. Ashanta-Barker left COJ, returned to his law practice and co-founded QuarryFish Venture Partners, LLC, an early stage private equity investment firm.
