Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of the Governance & Accountability Institute, a New York City based advisory and research consulting firm focusing on Sustainability/ESG materiality, strategy, issues management, disclosure, reporting, stakeholder engagement, training and communications. Louis launched the G&A Institute with his partner Hank Boerner in 2006 with the goal of helping organizations navigate the way to Sustainability. Louis leads the Institute's pro-bono relationship with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Through his guidance the Institute's team analyzes every Sustainability report issued by an organization headquartered in the United States, United Kingdom, and The Republic of Ireland for over 100 data points. He utilizes this unique dataset to provide advice and services to his corporate clients that are looking for more return on their Sustainability programs. This data has also been utilized in many publicly available research papers, quoted often in media, and utilized by academia. Along with his research team he has published several well known research papers on Sustainability which track the trends, benefits, growth, maturing, assurance and regulations of Sustainability reporting in the United States and abroad. Prior to launching The Governance & Accountability Institute Louis spent 9 years gaining issues and crisis management consulting experience under the world renowned Rowan & Blewitt (an Interpublic Company). Here he helped the firm with various crisis engagements and learned the value of pro-active issues management versus re-active crisis management. These lessons helped to form some of his risk mitigation / management views as it applies to Sustainability Issues (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Issues). Louis is interested in helping organizations do the right things for the right reasons.
