I liked the analogy. Volatility certainly can be a good thing in the stock market. In addition to shaking out weak hands, volatility can also be a good thing if you're invested in a riskier position that sees a large increase in share price. The important thing for a long-term investor is to make sure they have enough cash on hand, otherwise in a volatile market, they may find themselves obligated to sell at the bottom.
Snowden is a true American hero, someone with the courage to stand up and speak out. The spying being done by the government on its citizens is getting out of control. I mean fake cell phone towers to intercept phone calls and steal data; seriously?? If you ask me, encryption is a step in the right direction.
Great to look back to see how far the alternative crypto-currencies have come even in the last few months. Would love to read an updated article again comparing Bitcoin to the other cryptos out there. Nowadays a whole bunch of them are making waves with revolutionary developments (i.e. Blocknet, Supernet, etc.). I believe that, in the near future, a few of these altcoins have the potential to compete with and even dethrone Bitcoin.
Bitcoin has hit $1000 in the past, and it will reach it again. I try not to focus too much on the short term price range of it; because, with something so volatile, I might miss a huge increase trying to find the perfect entry point. There is definitely profit to be earned trading Bitcoin, but my current circumstance and needs makes it easier for me to personally just buy and hold. Good luck to those who try and trade it!
Don't understand the hoopla surrounding Apple Pay. NFC has been in use for years, and mobile wallets (Google Wallets, etc.) have also been around for a while now. If you ask me, Apple is releasing something they should have developed years ago.
Don't see all the fuss over Apple Pay. Google Wallet has been around for a while, and NFC is far from groundbreaking. All I see is Apple playing catch-up yet again.
I stay away from investment advisers because of the fees. I don't remember the exact number, but the value added by advisers to someone's portfolio, on average, was less than 2% annually. On average means that this number could be even lower. And if the number drops to below what they are charging you in fees, you end up losing money using an adviser.
