You make an excellent point - I often wondered why anyone would actually use #bitcoins to buy items (except for criminals of course), when it is so volatile. It reminds me of Germany's currency after World War I when people never knew how much their money would by the next day. #Facebook's #Libra is a stale coin which makes far more sense to me. Will $NCTD's Flip Pay be compatible with that?
That's a rather harsh view @[Moon Kil Woong](user:5208). On the contrary, I would argue that the majority of the thousands of cryptos that have popped up over the years are out right scams. Facebook offers some legitimacy and hasobligations to shareholders which offers some stability. I'd also argue that their creating a stable coin is far more valuable and secure than the volatility we are used to.
Interesting idea to peg it to gold instead of a basket of stable currencies. But I thought the whole point of pegging it to several stable currencies, instead of one was to avoid any volatility. Pegging it to a single asset still exposes it to some volatility.
Man, that was a bad video. Had to wait for you to answer the phone, tell us how you had to walk the dogs, explain the basic mechanics of trading bitcoin after telling us you wouldn’t discuss that, sheesh. That was really live? Maybe plan out your videos better first. I gave up watching at the 7 minute mark.
Yes, some people don't trust #Facebook with their personal data (nor any other site). But FB has millions of users. If only a fraction adopt #Libra, it will be highly successful. Plus their platform will likely get many to use it, as opposed to just holding it for investment purposes. A stable coin is quite an intriguing idea. And Facebook has real expertise in taking an idea and turning it into a powerhouse. So yeah, I think Libra could be big! $FB
