How about the environment? The reason we need to stop burning fossil fuels like crazy is because we are destroying our future on this planet. When you drive your SUV alone, effectively you are only getting about 1-2% of the energy from the oil turned into motion of your body while all 100% of the oil is emitted into our environment hurting our health (e.g. cancer causing hydrocarbons) and global climate. This is the American way of using oil.
We should reduce fossil fuel consumption ASAP and use the remaining deposits for where alternatives will be hard to find, e.g. aircraft fuel.
