Lol, yes, I suppose so @[Martin Bliz](user:39134), but perhaps I've at least prevented other future disgruntled #Amazon#Echo customers from destroying Alexa. $AMZN
That's crazy! If he's worried about privacy with #Amazon's #Alexa, just hit the mute button. Or if he's really concerned, sell it on Ebay, don't trash it. With the money he saves, he can get the Amazon Tap which only activates when you press the button. $AMZN
Yeah,- Alexa, is great. #Alexa enables users to interact with devices in a more intuitive way by using their voice. You can play music, answer questions, even set an alarm or timer, etc. Another good thing is the more customers use Alexa, the more she adapts. BUT...what disturbs me is the response of the spokeswomen Rachel Hass".... we don't discuss details about security features, and I wouldn't speculate on hypothetical situations." (when some people asked isn't this device a snitch). There was quite interesting discussion on Customerso last week and one of the members shared that he threw his device from the window after few days of use... $AMZN#Amazon
It was my understanding that with #Netflix's global expansion, the majority of their offerings were not available outside the US. I wonder if that's the same with #Amazon or not.
Interesting that it seems to be a stand alone service from #Amazon in countries where they don't offer #AmazonPrime. But how much will they charge after the introductory offer expires? I wonder... Either way, it could be some unwanted competition for #NEtflix which has invested heavily in this area. $AMZN$NFLX
Interesting read but I have to take issue with your comment that "For creating new content, there are no barriers to entry." How can you say that? Creating a quality TV program or movie can take hundreds of millions of dollars. Especially if it involves a cast with star power. #Netflix and #Amazon definitely excel at this. Personally I think #Hulu and #YouTube fall short. $NFLX$AMZN
It all comes down to this: "#Amazon automatically determines what items customers take from the shelves. "
No idea how they do this. But if it works, it could solve all the problems and complaints of the programs that came before. It would also limit petty theft/shoplifting which is a major problem in this industry. $AMZN
I'm curious to see if #Amazon can make this work. $AMZN always manages to do things better. The idea is great, but to date, implementations have been poor.
You make a compelling argument to buy $AMZN. There are so many other reasons to buy #Amazon stock as well, that this is actually on the bottom of my list. As a customer of #AWS, I've actually been pretty unsatisfied with my experience. I find the customer support to be incredibly slow to resolve problems and have experienced outages. I think AWS need to improve if they want to continue getting my business.
I have a love/hate relationship with #Ebay. I agree it is still the go-to place to sell my stuff. They've done a great job on cornering the auction market. That being said, I think they've completely dropped the ball and let #Amazon eat into their overall used-goods market share. They consistently fail to be innovative while Amazon is always leading in innovation. Perhaps the company's foray into structured date will have an impact as the author suggests.
I couldn't agree with this article more. #eBay has always been underated, overshadowed by #Amazon's success. But ebay isn't going anywhere. It's still the best place to go if you need to sell an item, and far safer than a place like Craig's list. $EBAY$AMZN
#Amazon started out as a book seller only. It's growth exploded once the company diversified. Why doesn't B&N do that also? Additionally, I believe I heard that Amazon is going to open brick and mortar stores, won't that be a major threat to B&N? $BKS$AMZN
Yes, some good points here worth digesting. I agree with @[Mitch Reynolds](user:32483) that B&N will never be the next #Amazon$AMZN. But that just gives credence to @[Jonathan Caplan](user:25301)'s case that $BKS may be getting overlooked and could be an undervalued stock. I'll be giving it a deeper look.
I'd say that benefit is overrated. The biggest advantage #Amazon had over #BarnesandNoble was no sales tax. That benefit is now gone in most states. B&N is now correctly adjusting its strategy and focusing on the areas it can have a competitive edge -namely it's atmosphere.
