What A Local Business Should Do To Generate Growth And Increase Exposure

Date: Tuesday, June 13, 2023 6:32 PM EDT

Running a small business can be immensely profitable depending on its niche. Becoming a staple of a local community can be so important as trusted businesses can thrive. The local community is interconnected so customer experience should also be a focus for a small business. A single customer that is unhappy that has a large social network or large social media following can impact a business in a very negative manner. Digital marketing is going to be very important as traditional marketing techniques do not convert as they did in the past. Below are ways that a local business can generate growth and can increase overall exposure.

Focus On Search Engine Rankings

Search engine optimization along with marketing off of the website is so important. Search engine rankings are impacted by so many factors. Local online business directories need to be leveraged as profiles often have backlinks which are extremely important. Take the time to do keyword research to see which terms to target for current and future marketing campaigns. Even claiming social media profiles can be important as the metrics for these sites are valuable in terms of rankings.

Manage Online Reviews And Responses

Online reviews are so important as some people search for businesses and then sort for those with the highest ratings. The volume of reviews also matters when it comes to rankings. Take the time to respond to every review as this can lead to a salvaged customer relationship or even a changed rating of the business. Take the time to see which platforms are most important for your type of business then assign a member of the staff to handle these.

Partner With Other Local Businesses

Local businesses that are in close proximity to one another can partner by offering deals for both businesses. A restaurant next to a mechanic that offers oil changes might want to give coupons to the mechanic to give to customers. Receipts over a certain dollar amount at a restaurant can help change common maintenance like tire alignments. Adding deals like these to Groupon can be important as well as both businesses can expand exposure. A consistent flow of customers coming in during all hours from the mechanic can stabilize revenue. Mechanics customers might not mind waiting as long as they have somewhere to go to eat.

Sponsoring A Local Event

Local events that are sponsored can have various promotional items like pens, shirts, and other trinkets. These can allow those that use them to remember a business if there comes a time that they need them. A medical practice that specializes in pediatric medicine might want to sponsor a little league team or event for kids on a holiday. The goodwill that can be generated can attract customers in the local area that will continually come back time after time.

Increasing exposure for a company should be coupled with offering quality products or services with impeccable customer service. Take the time to assess how the marketing and advertising budget is currently spent as this can provide you with the next steps.
